Default removed due to spam

Rob asked about a different directory and if anyone offered a submission service.

This user has decided to step on numerous threads advertising his directory, when a single post introducing it should be fine.

Rob,
I've got mixed feelings on directory submissions. Before Google devalued directory link juice I think it was a great idea to spend money on getting directory links. Now, however I'm not so sure your getting a "value" for your money. I submit to free directories every once in a while, and I do pay for some UK directories (very few).

You may have better ROI if you used the same resources for content generation, article distributions, and blog postings.

I think >$200 is way to much to spend.

Rob, my edit of the other persons post was NOT directed at you, but it wzas actually off-topic and a bit spammy for them to step on your thread.

I think your post has a lot of merit, and could make for an interesting discussion.

I think directory listings can be ok for you....provided they go along with links of other types as well as like Wagerx said content, articles, blogs and other things.

I don't know if there is a magic number or speed at which is best....

I'd say not too many at once but keeping it up regularly....

Also, if its a directory that generates traffic then thats even better.

I think niche directories are better than ones of a general nature.

Rick

I recently added a few sites to a lot of directories and I have seen the SERPs improve. Adding to directories is always part of my new site promotion. I agree that it is not what it used to be but my stance on SEO is that a little of a lot is always good, as long as you do not overdo any aspect of your SEO promotion to appear spammy.

I always time delay any submissions and I have recently found Submit2Please a great service for good money.

I think a good measure of submission speed is how quickly you could do it manually. If the search engines really do punish a site for having too many submissions over a period of time, this has to be the main way to judge how quick is too quick. So, as masontech says, even if you're doing it automatically, time-delay it to make it look more 'human'.
