What's the worst advertising offer you've ever received?

I've just received an offer from a link buyer for an in-content text link on the PR3 homepage of my main site. She has offered me the amazing price of $30. Bear in mind also that this is a targeted UK online casino homepage that has no other paid links. Oh, I almost forgot - the $30 price is for a permanent link. Forever. I've had some lousy advertising offers over the years but jeez. Talk about insulting.

So, c'mon - what's the worst advertising offer you've had? Or is it only me who gets e-mails from people wanting the world and more for $30?

I got an offer from a guy who wanted to get links on 50 pages, most PR5s, for $600, for 3 years, or $4 per link per year. I wrote back and told him wasn't even close. He wrote back and offered $800.

    Worst Offer

Fiction im betting that was Mecca Bingo with that blinding offer - i am being bombarded by their spam team at the moment.

What i consider to be the worst offers are the idiotic emails that i get from these programs that tell me they have been allocated a significant budget and would i contact them right away . They then offer a crappy CPA or Revshare on their dodgy brands.

For me it has become a way to track Cpays movement through the Online Casino sphere

A guy recently approached us to pay us $45 to advertise a casino (btw. they're a platinum sponsor here at GPWA) link on our home page for a year. Told him to go and play with himself in a nice way.

I get bombarded with emails like that from every possible source, one sticks in mind a few years back.

A casino offered me I think $50 for a yearly link on the homepage, I said that it is not even close and the person sent me a scathing email saying how I'm stupid and how could I value my site so highly when it is only a PR3. Some people can't look past pagerank and must have thought that this is the only way to possible to make money online, I reached the decision that replying to the email would be a waste of my valued finger energy. About a month later I got an email from the exact same person asking if I wanted to join there affiliate program... I think you can guess what I did!

The casino isn't around anymore, surprise!

I didn't get far enough to find out who the link was going to be for. Seemed to be a broker - Jennifer.

Just throwing a question out there re: paid advertising

I too have received some offers in the past that looked kind of shady to say the least. I find that not replying at all saves me the "finger energy" too....you can guess which finger...

In any event, from my admittedly limited understanding of paid in context text links, is it not the case that Google and the other search engines frown upon such practices?

More specifically, surely those who've already posted on this thread have more experience than I do on this, but aren't you concerned about popping up on Google's radar for having posted publicly about having accepted paid links?

Just an honest question from a relative newbie...

Few things anger me more than people valuing sites base on pagerank, I've seen people trying to sell established sites with decent monthly income worth $xx,xxx but because it's only a pr2 get offers of $500, not to mention people who will only swap links with sites of equal or higher pagerank.
