I think the European market is best right now. I still have a lot of US players using Absolute, Ultimate Bet, Poker Stars and Full Tilt.

I suppose that's what I was looking for when I posted the poll - not so much the big money but the steady income.

I'm not going to ditch casino players as I quite enjoy the thrill of not knowing how much you can make each month, but I need something to rely on also, so I'll investigate the poker market a lot more now, along with the more social gaming channels.

Regarding casinos I have never had a negative month overall. I have had a negative month with one program but the other programs more than counter balance that.

That being said being in the affiliate business and very reliant on external variables such as google all affiliates should make sure that they have at least 6 months worth of money stored away for monthly expenses. That way if you did happen to have a negative month it would not be a big deal. When the law in the USA passed a lot of affiliates had to fold their business because they were living month to month. For me even 6 months would be scary I dont feel comfortable unless I have at least a years saved up and that is assuming I bring in 0 cash each month.

From what I can tell casino players are worth more but poker has significantly more volume so it balances out.

I think that the one single player with casinos bring more money.

However I think that thera are more poker players than casino players.

Does using CPA rather than rev-share negate the possibility of negative months? In other words if I accept CPA and that player wins big, does it have any affect on my commissions?

I'm new to affiliate programs so please excuse my ignorance!

Nope, CPA is a guarantee to get paid for real players whether they are winners or losers. You get a set price once that player deposits and wagers xx amount of dollars. You cannot go negative with CPA.

That's what I thought. So to all the people in this thread who are worried about casino players wiping them out, why don't they go CPA instead? Are the average commissions that much lower than rev-share?

You'll have to get the casino webmasters to answer that one. Since I do 90% poker, I do rev. share and for me it's much more profitable than most CPAs as poker players tend to stick around longer than casino players, from my experience.

I think with CPA it can be good initially. However if your players do not generate enough rake to cover the CPA you will end up not getting paid.

Your payments will be held. Even if they say it does not matter if they win or lose, thats not really the case.

Short term yes, but after 2 months if the third month you have 20 players deposting i assure you you will not get paid.

It happened to me for large sums of money.

REv Share is better in that respect since you know for sure you will get paid.
