Default Where to start and where to look

    Hey guys

I am fumbling my way along and decided to stop and ask directions... Hi!

Let's start at the beginning, I am new to affiliate sites of any kind and have never earned a penny off one. I am good with IT and building basic HTML/CSS and WP sites so hopefully should have that avenue covered.

So assuming I have an adequate knowledge of online casinos and how they work etc, where do I start with regards to building an affiliate site?

I see loads of "review my site" posts with people always saying the same thing, content content content, cool, sounds fair enough. White hat SEO always, cool, no dirty tricks to be found anywhere. Awesome. But just how do I go about starting something from scratch?

I have a few fairly targeted niches in mind, so I know about how to get the DNS and site installed via WP at a minimum, keen to delve into HTML5 as well. But I want to learn from people who are already making this work.

Do we have a "golden bible" of affiliate sites that are set up well and generating a good thoroughfare of players and income?

I want to start researching how to start my organising and building my site, but feel a bit deer in the headlights as there is just so much info floating around.

Do affiliate programs release the names of the top affiliates and their respective sites, so I can start learning from the best in the business?

PS: I know it's not a get-rich-quick scheme, I am not after that. I am wanting to build a sustainable business that adds real value to the player base out there.

This site is a good read: http://www.affiliatebible.com/
Best casinos to play slot machines online for real money. Reviews of best Real Money Casinos online.
Check OnlineBlackjackExplorer for ratings of the best casinos to play blackjack online. Which games offer the lowest house edge, as well as free blackjack games, live dealer and mobile blackjack sites.

Thanks MMM, I am going through the guide now. For my other question, do casino affiliates show the names of the top affiliates in their programs and their respective sites? I would be surprised if they did, but can only ask the question

edit: oh, and some examples of good quality affiliate sites on here, if people are willing to share

Affiliate programs won't publicly share their top affiliates and their sites... I'm sure you can understand why.

Most bigger affiliates aren't going to start posting their sites in this thread either for the same reasons. However if I were you I'd start by looking at the sites which have sold recently in the industry. That should give you a good base of the kind of thing you need to aim for.

Thgere is no magic formula or template to go by, what used to be popular and still is for 99.99% of new sites is the basic cookie cutter... top10 casinos repeated of ten pages, with no deposit bonus sign ups.. throw a few links and viola.. however after the recent update they seem to have disappeard from the top20 of the most important serps.

You need to build something people want to read, not just researched, good spelling etc etc.. but make it exciting, why should people visit you over the competition? If you can see what most others cannot see you will be able to buils something and make a fortune doing it.

If you can do this just slightly better than the competition then you're winning. Don't obsess over every little detail and let it stall your efforts.

    @affiliate_noob
Just to give you my two cents. Here are some random thoughts:

    • affiliatebible is definitely a good start. read the whole book .. and then read it again.
    • go niche. chasing rankings for the big keywords ('online casino') will get you nowhere.
    • there is only three ways to become successful: you can a) outwork, b) outsmart or c) outspend your competition. you are a newbie so your only option is a).
    • all successful gambling affiliates will tell you the same thing. it's a LOT of work. the key is to be persistent because most beginners will give up after 2,3,6 months ... making money as a gambling affiliate is so easy .. right?
    • expect to work your behind off for a year without seeing any significant return. you will maybe say ..oh yeah no problem' ... but believe me ... after working like a horse for 3 months you will definitely have doubts.
    • you also asked for examples of successful affiliates. check out the nominees for the IGB affiliate awards. this will give you a better understanding of the industry. 2017 nominees |

I found the site in question on a ransomwaretracker dot abuse dot ch. The entry is from 2016. Maybe they cleaned everything up in the meantime. In any case .. I have removed the link from my post.

Thanks for the great replies everyone. I have already gone through the affiliate bible's beginner crash course, and starting to hit up his main content now as well. His site is just jam-packed with incredible info, so thank you very much for that. He really practices what he preaches about making your site THE authority on the topic.

Totally get that Doovde. You mentioned look at which sites have recently sold in the industry. I presume you aren't talking about Flippa. Which resources do you use for that kind of info? Which are the best online gambling news sites to stream from?

Thanks wonderpunter. Sounds fair enough. I get the message loud and clear, thank you

Haha, that would be a great idea, except I have a deep interest in online gambling and something I really enjoy, for some strange reason

Now PC hardware.... there's a thought.... hang on, one new project a time, but that does sound like a good project 5 or 6 haha!

Thanks casaffiliate!! My intention is entirely to go niche, as niche as possible, so long as there is some decent search volume I am there like a bear.

I am no strange to long and hard work, and yes, I've hit that grind wall many times with other projects and given up plenty. But unlike other industries, this one seems very helpful and not nearly as toxic as some others I've been involved in.

THanks for the nominees links, I'll give those a good look through.

Depends when the moderators will look at it. I never waited more than one day. Once you reach 10 posts (correct me if I'm wrong), moderation will be turned off for your account.

One more question for now, how important is domain name keyword density? Or is it really a secondary concern to content and value from that content? Should I be sweating trying to find a keyword rich domain, like "onlinecasino{xyz}" where {xyz} is just a catchy term, or will literally anything do, so long as the website is built right and packed full of great content? Getting a .com and .net is really hard to find, but "lesser" .info etc sites are more readily available.
