Woo Hoo!

Good to see things are turning around in this tough economy, and that the GPWA will be well represented in Hungary!

No - we are not attending Budapest. Same reason as usual - it's difficult for me to justify the time and expense for the travel and week spent away.

I could see why an affiliate program, or business-to-business company would attend, these events are sure to be good source of new affiliates and contacts.

However, we are chock full of sponsors on site - with a huge waiting list - and simply have to refuse requests from any new advertisers at present - so there is no space to set up new deals - indeed we need to focus on creating more content to satisfy existing demand.

So as a busy affiliate - attending would simply be a "junket" - much fun to do - but not value generating at all. In these financial times - I'll simply tuck the 20K cost away and earmark it for future salaries / costs.

I think flying from New Zealand to Hungary would be too painful of a flight for an affiliate. If you only go for a week you're losing 2 full days in travel time if not more. Business wise I still think it is worth it but from that distance I would only recommend 1 or 2 big ones like London in Jan. Sydney I think is around the corner and am looking forward to another trip to Oz.

If there are any affiliates on the fence I would highly recommend to go and not just saying that to justify my own expenses and to get biz done but BAC should be a good event for all.

In case there are some unanswered questions floating around especially for affiliates who haven't been to a conference here is what you can expect:

Free for affiliates to attend and this includes access to the conference floors, buffet lunches (still free) every day, seminars (I will be speaking), free passes to all parties and most are usually open bar. In the evenings it is common for operators to take out their affiliates to dinner and I will be taking out affiliates for dinner for one big night if anybody wants to tag along. Usually there is a tourism day and I believe that is sponsored. Overall you'll have a time time spending money unless of course you go to the casino ...

Business wise you will probably get a lot accomplished. There are seminars throughout the day and you can navigate the floors to get free stuff although most of it is crap but some programs make stuff worth keeping. You can talk to program managers there. You can book 1 on 1 meetings with your affiliate managers and completely fill up your schedule if you want. I usually see and hear about more deals getting done at the conferences but I'll let those affiliates speak up and say if it has been worth it or not.

See yall in Budapest!

Hello everyone! I sincerely think this will be the biggest and most well attended conference of the year. There is so much hype about this show in general and the GPWA cannot wait! I know that many affiliate programs have saved their budget for this event in particular, just about all of my affiliate friends plan to attend, and I truly believe the GPWA mag that will be distributed at this event is going to be our best yet. Stay tuned for my exclusive www.pokerisivut.com story and an exclusive Bodog.com story in addition to MANY other great articles and info.

Please try to come, it will be worth it professionally and personally, I really think!

Becky
