France is favourite of course, but I hope Croatia will win. Would be nice to see France missing the cup in the last seconds after all their crappy games.

My favourite for the bronze medal is Belgium, they have added salt and pepper to this WK. There were played a lot of boaring matches, especially the first week. I expect firework on Saturday.
About the final, I hope Croatia to win but France is a dangerous team.
Disappointing in general was the performance of the big players like Messi, Ronaldo, Neymar and Co. As a result, I suppose that the sportsbetting/bookmakers are very pleased with the depart of Argentina, Brazil, Portugal, Spain etc... All these unexpected results have made them lots of money! I think they do certainly not complain about this WK!

I want Croatia to beat France just so all the smug faces around the office can look defeated. The french guys in our office are pretty arrogant about this world cup and France winning. It makes it not fun.

I have been making bets on underdogs and unlikely outcomes just because the odds are high, and making money from them. I imagine there should be heaps of people out there doing the same, no?

Their team is also quite arrogant. Like for example that Mbappe guy. He's a great talent for sure, but his attitude is already quite annoying. Sure he "learned" quite a lot from Neymar.

Going to be an amazing game the two teams that gave their everything in this tournament. Not a fan of any of them but no doubt there's going to be a lot of action.

    Tears.

I woke up at 1am to watch the game after about 1 hour sleep and after that first own goal I just knew in my heart France was going to win. I snoozed and woke up every 10 mins to check the score. I'll watch the game in full tonight once I'm home.

Croatia, a country of just under 5 million people, a country who was in war until not so far in the past, really made the world of ex Yugo countries come together. I don't know what it's like in other countries or even cities here in Oz, but where I grew up the Serbs and Cros still fight with each other, even though they don't even come from Europe. The ones who were born here. I remember as a teenager I'd go to watch our local team play and the serbs and cros would get into fist fights in the crowd. It's so fkd. But even just for a few weeks, it was nice to see everyone come together and put differences aside to support Croatia. Seeing all the love in my newsfeed this morning really makes me proud to have a partly Croatian heritage. If anything this will make the younger Croatian players more hungry. 4 years is not so far away.

I'm all about the love, and today there is plenty of it ♥

    Congrats to France.

Spewing Renee you should be proud they played unbelievably well.

I hate results like this when the best team doesn't win. You knew after that first bullshit home goal and that penalty it just wasn't meant to be even though France were offering nothing!

Yes I felt it too after 10 min... it was one of these games that one team pushes very hard in the beginning and after that losing big time!

This final is completely destroyed by a referee making very poor and dubious decisions. The referee was directly involved in two of the goals of France. At crucial moments, giving France the opportunity to play their favourite tactic of defending with 10 players and wait for a break-away of Mbappé. I suppose that this referee Putana will also be present at the festives that will be hold this week in Paris and he will be able to make a selfie with the trophy too.

In essence the VAR is a good thing, but what we've learned from this World Cup is that refs even with video keep on making mistakes and dubious decisions.

Remember also the game Serbia v Switzerland, where Serbia didn't get a 100% penalty or the very light penalty that Griezmann "won" in the match against Australia, or a red card for CR7 that wasn't giving. Or all that theatre of players like Mbappe, Neymar that wasn't awarded with a yellow card.

I agree VAR is a good thing, but unfortunately, it is still down to personal interpretation which leads to bad decisions (just like his haircut). I feel for Croatia who I thought were excellent. The effort they put in after being involved in more minutes play than any other team is commendable.

I always thought France would be strong but they are not an outstanding team.

The biggest Argentine whistle of the whole tournament - Pitana ! Every layman saw how Griezman took off, something is always a swallow. And if I have to watch a scene for two minutes, then in case of doubt I have to decide against a penalty, especially in a final!

    Congrats France, Croatia and Belgium!

Some of you got the right prediction. This World Cup has definitely been one of the most unpredictable betting event.

So I guess you can't win that gold trophy unless you lobby for it in the dark rooms of this private elite gentlemens club.

Fine. If you award the 1st place with a political decision, then the 2nd place is the first real one.

Best way block punch, no be there.

Lol they weren't that bad. Winning the World Cup is a marathon not a sprint. They looked fatigued.

It is my duty as a Croatian to say a few words.

I've never been to a party with 500.000 people until last night. We threw a bigger party than the French *****. Without a single incident, too, as the riot cops ended up celebrating with us. We were breathing as one.

What drives us to do these things? I don't know. Maybe it's me signing Last Rose of Croatia (badly) in pouring rain. It's the exact same thing that drives Perisic, Rebic and Mandzukic to do all that incredible stuff. You'll never understand how and why unless you're one of us.

Thanks to everyone who supported Croatia in the final. You supported what's good in this world.

A special thanks goes to England for what turned out to be the best game of this tournament, for playing football like men are supposed to, and for the honest comments by Lineker and Shearer regarding that penalty kick against France. See you soon in the Nations League.
