It has been predicted that the World Cup in South Africa will be the biggest gambling event in history. With this in mind, affiliates have been actively preparing their sites and posting as much relevant content on the matter in order to effectively attract punters to bet through their links. With much hype surrounding early match-ups like England vs. the United States, punters and affiliates alike have been increasing the chatter surrounding teams, favorites and predictions.
In fact, much of the talk has revolved around who everyone is wagering on. Whether it is who they truly believe will win the match or “their” team, the discussions have ranged from playful to very… opinionated – to be politically correct.
This really stuck an interesting note that I believe affiliates should really talk about with their players.
Who are you punters betting on? Are they being patriotic and sticking to “their” team, or does the preferred/favourite team get chosen even when they are facing the home side?
With discussions like this on your affiliate site, it can greatly increase activity and traffic, as it will increase the content being generated, and hopefully with some keyword rich blogs, you can piggyback on these pseudo-controversies.
Conventional wisdom suggests that a punter will bet on who they think will win the match. But the market of patriotic punters will be a huge force in this World Cup, and all affiliates should be poised to gain from the increased activity.
This essentially means that a whole wave of punters should be looking for places to place wagers, and this is why having a strong content base with some SEO will greatly help your cause. Increased levels of patriotism are running rampant in the countries of the participating teams, and it is interesting to see if this translates into wagering choices for punters.
Start a dialogue, comment on your choice and explain your opinion, and see what happens. Then, let me know about it!
