7 October 2013
SACRAMENTO, California -- (PRESS RELEASE) -- Pechanga.net and Spectrum Gaming Group will host the inaugural iGaming Legislative Symposium February 27, 2014, at the Sheraton Grand Sacramento Hotel in Sacramento, CA. Attendees will include state legislators, gaming regulators, tribal and commercial gaming operators, and Internet gaming experts from around the world.
The symposium will identify the issues regarding the legalization of online gaming in California, and explore possible solutions and success scenarios. These discussions are critical as policy decisions made in California in 2014 regarding the launch, regulation, and taxation of online gaming will determine the success of Internet poker in California as well as influence the advancement of Internet gaming in other states.
"The importance of fair taxation and strict regulation in a new industry like online gaming cannot be overstated," said Victor Rocha, owner and operator of Pechanga.net, the leading gaming-industry news aggregator since 1999. "The 2014 iGaming Legislative Symposium was created to look at these and other important issues facing California in the next legislative session. Our goal is to provide solutions to these complicated issues."
"California has been a focal point for the implementation of Internet gambling for many years," added Joseph Weinert, executive vice president of Spectrum Gaming Group, the globally recognized research and consulting firm. "Considering the current size of its Native American gaming industry and its sheer market size, events in California could profoundly impact the size and structure of iGaming throughout the United States."
