    Default 188Bet Closing Active Accounts

Just got an email from 188 saying they plan on closing our account due to 'very little activity'. Stats for last quarter show an average of 4.5 FTD's a month. Not huge, but enough that I'd expect the bloody account to stay open.

Tbh we have only ever had them on an offers page of one site and never really given much exposure. Bloody glad we didn't now.

Anyway, just FYI that they're closing active accounts.

We got an email from them today that used "compliance" as the excuse to close our account.

I believe they are closing the whole affiliate. program as I received it twice (for an old account too), and it says:

Please ensure that you remove all 188BET promotions and creative from site by Tuesday 31st October 2017, as all rights, licenses and permissions granted to you terminate immediately and from this date you will no longer be contracted to work with 188BET.

We'd like to thank you for all the hard work you have put into promoting 188BET and we sincerely apologise for any in
    convenience this decision may cause.

Got our account closed today as well - same reason as Op's.
Only started out with them a couple of months ago so it's no big loss for us but anyway.
Does anyone know if they are closing their whole affiliate section our just kicking some of their affiliates?

Closed, without excuse, citing compliance as the reason but there was no warning whatsoever. This is the first email I got from them in ages.

And since I'm not promoting them actively, there's no chance my promotion of them would not be compliant. I guess they're just using this UKGC situation to close accounts which they want closed anyway.

Snap - same situation recevied the email we haven't worked with them since 2013 ...
So no loss in this situation - but still a very poor decision by a 2nd rate program.

But I bet they wont be closing the accounts of the referred/tagged players, huh!

If that's their agenda to close the aff program, that's their prerogative. But... I would also think (legally) if they continue to make profit from referred players, then they either have to make a settlement payment to each affiliate affected. Or hand those players back to said affiliates.

Unless your on a CPA deal, where by you have specifically received a once-off-payment for a player (aka you've essentially sold this referred player to the gaming entity), then legally I'm of the opinion, that you STILL have legal ownership of said player(s), if the company ends your contractual agreement. Be this by not paying you etc.,etc.,etc.

That btw imo that goes for any aff program where by the affiliate is on Revshare.

Unless it specifically states in the agreed T&C's (the one you originally signed - not retroactively changed contracts), that by referring players to ABC gaming entity, you relinquish all and any ownership rights & or claims to said referred player(s).

If that or similar terms/clauses are not in those orginal agreements, then imo the program, on closure of an account, or termination of a program, must return those referred players to the affiliate.

Terminating a program BUT still keeping and earning profit from players referred, is nothing more than a BIG FAT scam.

It may be their "right" to do it but not like this.. they still have legal obligation to affiliates that they promised rev-share to..
If they would close the brand we can maybe "accept" it but this is not the case here as it seems..

A program can write whatever they want in their T&C but they can't do what they want because they wrote it, there is a law and if their T&C are breaking the law by causing damages to others without reasonable reason they are just another criminal company, they use their T&C to cheat others

We also got an email to state our account is going to be closed with them because of 'compliance'.

Our account is going to be closed from 31st October apparently....

Exactly that and I have put in bold the key point. However, instead of moaning about actions taken by programs to reduce or stop our revenue stream. Why don't people follow my lead....

Well.. it's a good question, I guess most affiliates just fighting to close the month and they are not in the mood for starting legal actions against companies that are doing this... and the majority also dont have the resources as well

If you are in the UK and the program has exposure here, the Smalls Claims route is very cost effective and has very real teeth.

Received the same e-mail however we don't do anything with them. By reading past comments from another post starting in 2015 and these recent posts it certainly sounds like affiliates are best without them. In the end they will lose .....

How would I make a claim on ZERO earnings? No contact with them since 2013.

But on that related note of legal cases how is the Affiliate Edge case going?
I haven't read any progress recently - are you just waiting for due process and a court date now ?
