I think it might be worth it if your site was directed towards bitcoin casino or bitcoin sportsbooks. They allow 2 links and 1 email. They do not specify if it is a do-follow link. When you go to the press release page and check out one of the links you see the meta rel = "noopener noreferrer'. The "noreferrer" makes me think they do not want the buyers to know actually how many referrers come from them.
nofollow will not be a thing come february 2020.. it will be a "hint" rather than a directive..
plus of course other sites scrape and republish the news from bitcoin.com, and no doubt some of those copies will be dofollow..
If you actually shared a valuable story, then this would serve as awareness to the linkerati, and you would no doubt earn links to your site / story.
regarding noopener, well "This feature was introduced in WordPress to address a security vulnerability which can be exploited by malicious websites." .. and wordpress powers like 70% of the web, so nothing to worry about there..
the other 1 noreferer is just a privacy thing afaik, (http header is stripped of referral source). so as long as the press-release has the magical dofollow on it, life should be rosy.
I am going to buy one of these this month for a client, will let y'all know how it goes. not expecting miracles, but could give a nice little uplift and drive some other links.

Yes, if your budget allows you, but it all depends on what you want to publish as a press release, or rather, what goal you are pursuing. If it's just a link, then of course not ...

People often just buy links for the pagerank flow alone. I have always avoided this mindset.
It leads to a sloppy outreach process, where people often overlook the merit of the link, quality of the referring website and article written. If you just want a link, you won't care about this.
On the flip side, if you actually put in the effort to make sure the referring domain makes sense for your site, the link and/or article provides real value to that site's visitors; that's called marketing.
That said, I'm not primarily a gambling affiliate only. I realize that this niche is different. Still, I try and put in a big effort in my guest posts and get great results.
If real bitcoin readers won't care about this press release of yours, it's a waste imo.
I've heard double that price offers for double less 'quality' domains in the industry. So if it's a do-follow link the price sounds reasonable.

sounds reasonable for me too, I've heard that price offers for a backlink from sites that weren’t worth a cent. 1K for the backlink from bitcoin.com is more than fair
