Here's a quick breakdown of the matches for this weekend:

    Ipswich Town v Fulham

Judging solely on the talent available to them on paper, Fulham should really be capable of running away with the Championship. After all, there aren’t many teams in the league that can afford to splash £11m in an entire transfer window, never mind on just one player.

Unfortunately for Fulham the Championship is notoriously difficult to escape from, a fact that opponents Ipswich can testify to; this will be the Suffolk club’s 13th consecutive season plying its trade in the second tier.

It’s always difficult to predict results without any recent form to draw upon, but we think we’ll see a cagey draw here.

    Arsenal v Manchester City

Both sides have bolstered their ranks with some sound signings over the summer; Arsenal’s capture of Alexis Sanchez being the real standout piece of business. We’ve heard a number of Gunners fans state that a title bid will be on the cards this year, and it has to be said that this is probably the strongest squad they’ve had in a number of years. Are they in a position to challenge today’s opponents over the course of a whole season? We’ll just have to wait and see.

As always, Manchester City will prove a stern test. Last season’s champions will be hoping for yet another fruitful season, and fans will fully expect to walk away from Wembley celebrating a Community Shield victory. In our eyes, it’s a victory that they will achieve, although we don’t think it’ll be by an eight goal margin. 1-2 City.
