888 Holdings is alleged to be in advanced talks to buy William Hill’s non-U.S. operations. You may remember that Caesars Entertainment completed a $2.9 billion takeover of William Hill back in April. Discussions with Caesars Entertainment are not certain to result in a takeover, 888 said in a filing today.
The Times of London reported earlier that 888 had won the auction with an estimated bid worth more than 2 billion pounds ($2.76 billion).

It was vying with Apollo Global Management Inc. after CVC Capital Partners, the owner of sports betting firm Tipico Co., dropped out of the bidding.
Representatives for William Hill referred requests for comment to Las Vegas-based Caesars, which didn’t immediately respond outside of business hours.
