Default 888 closing in on deal to buy William Hill European operations

888 Holdings is alleged to be in advanced talks to buy William Hill’s non-U.S. operations. You may remember that Caesars Entertainment completed a $2.9 billion takeover of William Hill back in April. Discussions with Caesars Entertainment are not certain to result in a takeover, 888 said in a filing today.

The Times of London reported earlier that 888 had won the auction with an estimated bid worth more than 2 billion pounds ($2.76 billion).

    From Bloomberg:

888 had submitted the highest bid as it competed with private equity firms for the business, Bloomberg News reported previously. It was vying with Apollo Global Management Inc. after CVC Capital Partners, the owner of sports betting firm Tipico Co., dropped out of the bidding.

Representatives for William Hill referred requests for comment to Las Vegas-based Caesars, which didn’t immediately respond outside of business hours.

I wish 888 will buy WH, WH affiliates became the worst for the last 2 years, I believe this acquisition will do good for affiliates (if it'll happen..)

No acquisition ever made was better for affiliates. Just theives are buying and get rid of affiliates. 100% rule.

First, I must agree with you on this one, the majority of the acquisitions historically ended up not so well for affiliates (to say the least), however here I meant that WilliamHill affiliates currently is with such a bad reputation and the with worst communication..
Add to that they shaved couple of our accounts a little over 2 years ago and these where good accounts with thousands historic players of which we got approval from the previous management we get to keep for life. (the reason that we had couple of accounts was due to their previous management request, not even ours and part of the agreement that we split accounts is that we get to keep them but new management didn't care and we got brutally shaved nevertheless and our only left account was downgraded from our historic rev-share deal) and on the other hand we have a the complete opposite experience & stability with 888 affiliates for many years.
They have a great team and they have much better communication and understanding of the affiliates needs..but above all they honour deals, during the last 15 years I'm working with them closely affiliates management changed all the time and each time new affiliate management came they always respected the agreements previous management did...at least this is my experience.

So I honestly dont know what will happen with existing WH accounts and deals after the acquisition, but if they will apply their approach on WH affiliates I do believe this will improve WH affiliates condition..

If this move goes ahead, it's bound to be a very bad one for affiliates who are really going to suffer.

I hope that the acquisition is completed and that there will be an improvement in the way we deal with our affiliates.

Will be glad to be able to work with some brands. William Hill was terrible and looking forward to working with 888.

Has anyone mentioned Mr Green at all? I'm aware it's probably included in the WH assets but curious to know if there's a statement that includes it.

Yes 888, I can not complain about. Like I nearly do not promote them, but they did not steal my money yet, even when I do not deliver. They are also more casino brand it seems, so I have not much experience with them.

But there were a lot of examples in the past of mergers of ok brand with not ok brand. And the result was not ok. 32red/kindred. BF/Paddy. Nordicbet/Betsson. Ladbrokes/Bwin (ok LB was bad for many even before, but for me LB was an excellent brand and they stole during merger).

Acquisition complete as of today apparently:

    Dear Affiliate,

Following on from the 888 Shareholder vote in May to acquire William Hill’s non-US business, I can now inform you that, as of today, the non-US William Hill group has been acquired by the group of 888 Holdings plc (which is one of the world’s leading online betting and gaming companies).

We want to reassure you that it remains very much business as usual for 888. There will be no change to our contract or invoicing procedures currently in place.

If you have any questions or you would like to discuss today’s announcement in greater detail, please feel free to contact your William Hill Affiliate Manager, who’ll be able to assist.

    Best Regards,
    888Uffiliates

This takeover does not bode well. As recently as 10 years ago, WH was a leading brand, now now it is mediocre.
