Jalle - sad you cant get a response here - really!

GPWA is too busy off counting their sponsorship monies from unethical programs.

CityGuard - GPWA is all about money - PERIOD!

Arkyt your insults and belittlement of the community is unwarranted but not surprising.

I have become accustom to your constant whining and quite frankly I think you bitch and complain for your own amusement.

Regardless, I will continue to assist you when I can and respond to your issues through your barrage of insults because I am here to help all affiliates. I will not lower myself to your level and be drawn into a fight. I have far more important matters to deal with than to play your games.

I will find out from IT Monday morning what the issues are with affCAFF.
I am here to help if you have any issues with an affiliate program.

    Unwarranted?

Jalle posted that question nearly a month ago and it hasn't gotten a response - how are my comments unwarranted? The service was offered to affiliates 6 months ago, yet to this day it still does not work as specified - how are my comments unwarranted? Really?

How many "GPWA" sponsor programs are getting away with SPAM and other unethical behavior these days while GPWA rushes its employees off to parties?

Ill say it again, GPWA is ALL about the money - PERIOD.

I hope it gets fixed for affiliates - either way I wont be using it as I refuse to support GPWA in its current form - as such I wont be posting any longer.

Arkyt, your criticism of the delay is fair and appreciated. But I feel some of your other criticisms are directed in a way that is not meant as constructive feedback. Anthony, Michael and I always try to take such criticism as useful feedback that we can act on, so I do want to note that I think your concern about the delay is fair and appreciated. I know you were excited to use the tool and it is always frustrating to have something you are excited about take time. I do hope that the resolution will ease some of your frustration. But I feel a need to express concern that some of your recent comments have not been based in the same spirit of building. For example, I think your repeated use of profanity in the message you sent to the forum administrators was not helpful, and I want for those who read Anthony's reply to Arkyt I feel a need to point out that it was shortly after that profane message he'd sent behind the scenes (profanity can make it hard to take a message constructively no matter how one tries to get passed it).

    Regarding the reported error:
The problem has been diagnosed and resolved. The final fix was implemented on Monday, November 1st by the technical department, but I felt it was important for me to go through the installation process for testing purposed independently before posting. And I can confirm that my own testing matches the technical team's testing -- the installation and the pages are accessible including when using the 100616152729 account ID.

Because the problem initially reported in this thread has been resolved, I've separated the report from Jalle from October 18th as a new thread in order to make sure it is evaluated separately. The new thread is available at https://www.gpwa.org/forum/affcaff-b...le-193602.html.

Ahhhh so GPWA wants its members to post in a manner which is in the "spirt of building" ... but the spirt of building what? Thats a bit provocative ... dont bother answering

We are not aware of any current issues with the affCAFF snippets functionality.

As Steven reported previously in this thread, the known issue reported before was believed to be fixed by the development team at the beginning of this month, and Steven independently confirmed he believed that was the case, based on his own testing, before making his subsequent post in this thread.

There was also a more sophisticated affCAFF system that was developed, but never very widely deployed due to support issues. When we took over affCAFF we made a decision that we could not provide support for that more complex system either, and would create a new replacement system for it over the longer term. That system is still under development.

We are continuing to update the affCAFF bonus data, and that data has been reliably updated every month since we took over the affCAFF system.

You are not aware of any issues? On 16th-June-2010, 04:48 PM I posted about an issue in this thread - it was noted by CityGuard and he was able to replicate my experience. I posted several times regarding a follow-up on that status - To this date, the same issue exist so to hear you say you aren't aware is very telling and quite honestly I find it a bit amusing.

And then a solution was put in place and I went through the same steps of attempting to replicate the problem, but the errors were no longer occurring and I was able to install it successfully (same steps that had caused the error previously). Michael was stating that he wasn't aware of a current (i.e. not fixed) issue, and his statement was based on two people here independently having gone through the installation process and having it work successfully (not based on ignoring you, like it feels like you want to believe).

Did you try it again since November 1st? I'm not able to replicate the problem you described earlier since the fix was put in place, so if something is still broken when you're trying to install the snippets, then it would be helpful if you could point me to a test page you're using (either in a post here or via PM).

Do you care to point out your post in this thread where you stated that you had "fixed" the issue I had described? I guess I missed that....

Installation? I havent installed a thing - is that actually required?

From the "how to use affcaff" page >

    Code:
affCAFF "snippets" are one-liners of code, either using PHP or Javascript (your choice!) to display self-updating bonuses and promotions on your website. A typical PHP "Snippet" to show the latest signup bonus from 32Red Casino would be called from your page like this:

    <?php @readfile("http://www.affcaff.com/080525583434/snippets.txt?show=32red_casino|bonus"); ?>
A typical "Javascript" snippet to show the same data looks like this:

    <script language="Javascript" src="http://www.affcaff.com/080526553434/bonus/32red_casino/snippets.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
The number "080526553434" in the example is the unique ID allocated to your domain and emailed to you when you register with Snippets.

Simply register the domain (website) on which you intend to use them, and you will receive an "activation" email. Once you have activated your domain, you will receive instructions on how you can simply put one line of code in your page to retrieve a bonus or promotion for a given property.
I dont read anything there that indicates that any type of installation is required.

I have attempted to use both "snippet" options and neither function.

    ========================================

    EDIT EDIT EDIT ...

I tested several times the last 6 months and I even tested ealier today and this was not working ... I just tested again this very moment and its now working ... ODD, but I reckon we can put this to rest - it is working!!!

Thanks - this is an awesome product!

I guess that part of my message got buried because it came after something of a partially-emotional nature. I didn't mean it to be buried. Here it is for reference:

My saying "installation" was a mistaken sloppy word choice and not an accurate description. I'd meant "addition" really, but I see where it was confusing -- I wouldn't say "installed a new article" when talking about adding a news page, but for some reason installation came to mind here even though I didn't mean actually installing anything. Hope I didn't create too much confusion.

Thanks Arkyt for confirming that it is working for you now and also for the kind words about it. I am glad we got to the bottom of it and that you're able to put the snippets to use!

    Default Affcaff

Hate that my first post here is a complaint.

I have only just realised that affcaff has now been taken over. (no-one emailed me?)

    Please note:-

    1. Your support email on affcaff.com does not work (mail returned undelivered)
    2. The update script does not work correctly (basically trashed my site, permission errors and more...)
    3. I cannot login to affcaff.com any longer

Now my scripts no longer work on multiple sites and this looks bad.. very bad!

Basically all appears to be broken and no lifeline is apparent??

I realise there are often problems with takeovers but this looks like a disaster

I thought GPWA were pros in this game?

    Would appreciate some support please

    Thanks

    Hi Adrian,

I appreciate your reporting the issue. Can you let me know the error message received, your affcaff account ID, and the website where the errors are occurring?

    Failed Err. 80004
Not all of the affCAFF files could be updated. Please ensure that the PHP files in your affCAFF directory have their permissions set to 777 and rerun this script
After this attempt the site was immediately unusable as all of the PHP files that Failed in the update were removed by the script.

I reinstalled from a backup and then went about changing permissions on all PHP files to 777 as required in the above error message. After doing this I could not access acManager.php as once the permissions on that file had changed to 777 from 644 it generated an Internal Server Error.

In summary, the update script failed to successfully update due to file permissions issues but when those file permissions were changed the site became unusable and a system update was not possible. (CATCH 22!)

I have now returned the install to its original state, and whilst its working its not updated.

    On a seperate note:

1 Click-Thru stats seem to no longer be available on any of my affcaff installations?
    2. I cannot login to affcaff.com , login not recognised and no user/pass retrieval function there. I sent you a PM on this
    3. New install signups at affcaff.com do not work, I sign up, get your activation email. Click on the activation email (or cut and paste it into a browser), either way get error message ACTIVATION FAILED

ALL IN ALL - things seem to be very broken?

    Regards
    Adrian
