Default Alderney Gambling Control Commission Interview: APCW Perspectives October 7, 2011

EXCLUSIVE APCW INTERVIEW: This week J Todd travels to the Global Gaming Expo in Las Vegas. In his exclusive video interview with Andre Wilsenach, the CEO of Alderney Gambling Control Commission, Mr Wilsenach clearly points the blame at Full Tilt Poker for their 'deceptive' reporting and business practices. However, this leaves many to wonder if the AGCC really believes they are free of blame in this situation, and how "regulation" will change in the evolving online gambling and poker industry.

JTodd, you did a great job holding up the mike. It didn't move at all.

You have to ask yourself why would they grant a license to FullTilt knowing that they were in violation of US laws (DOJ's interpretation of US laws). He keeps mentioning protecting the players, but from the beginning the players money was always in jeopardy. The DOJ would have confiscated any funds regardless of whether or not they were separate from the operating funds.

I found this very interesting and a look at how it works that I have not really understood how these 'liscensees' work. So thanks APCW!

I posted this in another thread but thought it was relevant here. Perhaps a changing face on how regulation works.

Las Vegas. If you check out the gaming commissions website you will see everything that they do to keep both the players and casinos safe. For example, check out how they audit:

After auditors present the introduction letter, they proceed with the audit opening by requesting
immediate access to the cage, counting rooms, and all other secured or unsecured areas within
    the casino.
    http://gaming.nv.gov/documents/pdf/what_to_expect.pdf

It goes on to say that they are going to check your accounting department and expect everything available to them when they come. Which could be at any time. And your books and cash better be in order. This is nothing new and yes it does work.

I think it's pretty safe to say that if US is going to allow online casinos to operate within the borders, there will be something like this in place or they don't operate here.

Why other juristrictions and liscensing authories, such as Aldernay, cannot do this I don't understand. Players lost a lot of money from FTP and had they had some sort of auditing process maybe it could have been avoided. There needs to be an auditing department added imho. Did the AGCC really believe that programs will be forthcoming about events affecting their business? Call them and say, hey, the DOJ is on our butt! Then, with all due respect to Mr. Wilsenach because I do not blame AGCC, he is baffled by this. What is the liscense worth exactly? Collect the money for it and then do what exactly to enforce it? Wait for the program to tell you? He needs to talk to affiliates lol.

To me, I am not concerned with programs who can't be honest and open to scrutiny and if it gives them a headache to open their books.

I'm not trying to suggest changing the world. Who? Little ole me? lol. The rest of the world can do what they want. Just pointing out what I've been thinking about how the USA is going to regulate. The gov is not going to let just anyone handle the money and they will be watching, because it will be all part of the pie of course.

    Alderney:

    Regulation by report.

    Plain English:

We just believe anything they tell us once the cheque's cleared.
I didn't realise they had a fancy name for it.

It's a shame that the entire series of videos has been pulled down because someone has complained
All the links people have to the videos are now going to get errors. The complainer has basically slapped every single person who has ever contributed to those videos in the face.
    Thanks complainer.
