Default Is AMP a good choice to speed up my website for mobile readers?

    Hi there,
I run this website: www.nabblecasinobingo.com and it is not the fastest website on-line, well, at least on mobile. I am looking for ways to improve speed and receive more traffic to my website. The average load time score on mobile is 63 and it falls into the medium range pages. On PC version it's quite well optimized and reaches the score of 95.

Shall I try AMP, as my website has a lot of pictures. Even though pictures are optimised and compressed, it doesn't load as fast as I would want. Changing to AMP I would gain on speed and google rankings, but I might loose on leads? I think when it is loaded as AMP, it is only in HTML, and all the css styles and scripts are out. Am I right?

I would appreciate if someone could post some opinions on this subject.

    Thank you!

AMP is just another crappy script and actually does nothing. Follow the advices given by the test tools you use manually - adding one more file or script to your site is a bad idea.

I have checked all my websites and have similar results as yours. The mobile version load score is between 33-48 and the desktop 86-99.
There are some things that can be optimized, but these will cost me much effort. I dont think these will increase much the speed load on my websites.

I have tried your website on my mobile phone and it takes couple of seconds maybe 5-10s to start showing the content. So your website needs optimization for sure. I dont know how you have created it, but i recommend you to you cache some html parts of the homepage. As i see you are using Wordpress for your website. You need to check if there is a good plugin for that. Unfortunately i dont like Wordpress and i do not use it for big projects.

    Second to this.

For me AMP is like banging on spoiler, louder exhaust pipe and 22" wheels on a Toyota when you want a race car. So if you want a real race car you need a good chassi, engine and suspension.

In webmaster terms: Get a Wordpress theme optimized for mobile users or build a CMS and say good bye to your old CMS.
