Default Andy Rooney rips gambling industry on "60 Minutes"

Andy Rooney is something of an American institution. He is one of the most famous broadcast journalists of all time. He covered World War II and his segment "A Few Minutes with Andy Rooney" has ended "60 Minutes" since 1978.

However, unlike a fine wine, Rooney has not gotten better with age. He has been in hot water numerous times for comments ranging from Native Americans to Kurt Cobain's suicide. His target last night was the gambling industry, saying "gambling produces nothing" and it was a good thing that the industry suffered during the recession.

A transcript and video of Rooney's segment can be found here:

    Favorite/most ridiculous part:

"There's only so much money in the world and if it's lost at a gambling table, it's money that isn't spent on things America makes. I mean who's best for this country - a machinist at an automobile plant in Detroit or a blackjack dealer in Las Vegas?"

Out of personal tragedy comes some great music - as in losing your shirt off your back in gambling! I would post some great music here if I could but I can't yet (not enough posts made). Rooney should realize that a great many blues musicians especially were gamblers and many of their songs were about such. If a person wants to gamble away whatever who is he to say they shouldn't? Hell without such highs and lows in life a person don't know he is alive! Damn this is some deep ****!

He's been through the last depression, where the answer was - production, production, production.
