Default And another event Mind The GAP

    Hi Guys

Okay so as most of you know that us operators had a meeting at CAC in Holland not a great deal was agreed the idea of forming a new association was thrown around anyway fast forward to today, it seems the people that are behind GAP now want to add another event to calendar.

The event would take place in London just prior to ICE, so the London event's would be from:

Mind the GAP 23rd Jan - 25th Jan
    ICE 26th Jan - 28th Jan
    LAC 28th Jan - 31st Jan

So a very simple question as affiliates would you attend Mind the GAP and LAC???

or would you just select one????

    Thanks

    Shaun

9, 10, maybe 11 days in London, in January? No, I don't think I would do that. If I go at all, I would choose GAP or LAC, and I would skip ICE.

I'd rather attend a US or Canadian affiliate conference, to be honest. Hopefully Vegas will be back on the calendar soon.

I might be interested in the GAP thingie, after a long flight to the UK an extra day or two would be fine. I hate the thought of only being there for 2 days. Still it is a shame toat London comes in brrrr January, it would be so much better to set it up as a summer event and take a more southern venue in January.

I admit, my wife really wants to see London, so ccold or not we are making plans to visit next winter. Did I mention it is ccold then?

Oh and next time, can we have a Yank poll? That Queens English baffled my simple mind a touch.

For others confused.... LAC= London Affiliate Conferance, formerly known as CAP Euro London, aka let's make an ass of ourselves UK. (not mentioning names mind you).

How do you mean re this comment? Just trying to get my head around whether I need to comment....

Re the events - Oh brother - I guess I can't hate competition but I find it ironic GAP was set up because amongst other issues there was too many events and they didn't feel operators should choose between two in the same city.

It will be interesting to see how this works out....I think it can only be damaging to both events because people just won't stay in London for that long and will have to choose - Lets hope the 2.5 years we have been doing this will help in some way The one good thing is we have our venue selected and it is nothing but awesome, on the Thames, bang in central London with incredible views of Tower Bridge, St Pauls, etc.

LOL @Chips. I think I know what you are saying and I don't think anyone will be doing that again.

This is some interesting information (the new conference schedule), but since it's early here I may be confused. hehe Is GAP competing with the current conference organizers and having completely new events now? I missed the name change also. I must be working to hard.

I would make my decision based on the agenda. I like to learn about new things and not hear and see the same folks speaking.

My 2 cents. Strikes me as silly having another one in London. Especially at the same time, and in the coldest month of the year to boot LOL. I'd just do a day or two of ICE and LAC personally. Once again it splits the industry just like CAP did in Amsterdam *sigh*. And anyway, 4 days of conferencing is plenty enough. Why would the operators want to hang around for 11 days to see all the affiliates? Makes more sense to have a small concentrated 3/4 day event - if there is a need for another event at all.

Now that said, I'm with Engineer - if Vegas becomes an option again, you can have one a month and I'll turn up

Anywhere in North America I will save my pennies and attend. I should be attending the one set up by casinobonusguy in Niagara Falls. Love to put faces on the GPWA board members that I have grown to know but never met.

A pile of affiliates in one room talking with one another IMO would be priceless.

    Calm down Alex......

For GAP to work they need serious support, as I have said on the GAP forum I am finding it weird that they are planning event for an association that has not even been formed that does not have any members, I think you and the three Musketeers did a great job with AAC and this will carry a lot of weight with the operators and affiliates so I really think you guys have nothing to worry about.

Sounds like you have found a good loctaion for London loking forward to, and to a shorter flight if you know what I mean...

I would probably attend them all since I am based London. But we have too many events at the moment and it's practically difficult to attend all.

For the ones who want to attend events in North America, there is one at Vegas and one at Niagara Falls. There are couple of threads at PAL with more details. YOu may want to have a look.
    Cheers!

No question here - ICE and LAC for me. Or maybe just LAC.

I am very disappointed to see another conference being scheduled in competition to an established and successful London event, especially after many operators complained about two events in Amsterdam. And needless to say it is doubly galling when this second conference is apparently being organized by some of these operators!

I'm sure Simmo and I are not the only ones that feel this way.

That's what I thought was going on.

So is GAP trying to become another bully? Leads me to wonder what other 'surprises' are in stored to be released next?

There are way more important industry related issues to be concerned about than creating more caos of this nature.

Perhaps we can move the idea of a Vegas meeting (or US destination - perhaps Atlantic City or Mohegan Sun or other) to another thread?

It doesn't have to be a formal conference - it may lack the parties, but there is something to be said for an informal get together to play some games and chat.... And best of all, we could plan for a weekend - so us with full time jobs dont have to kill all our vacation to make it out!

Even though I would love to see many people at one of these conferences, I will not be attending any of them. It's a money suck from the get go!
