Default Any advice for conference newcomers?

As London will be my first conference (can't wait!) I'm just wondering if any of you veterans out there could give us newbies a quick 'Rough guide' to what we need to know.

For example, a stupid question maybe, but are all the speakers/lectures in the same space? I see that they're scheduled as a contiguous block, so I'm assuming so. But I don't know!

Also, do you have to book a seat or is there room for all?

Where and when are the best ways to network with fellow affiliates?

Who provides the best free bar? Important one, that!

You see, the thought of crawling out of my dark, dank office into the bright lights of London is already causing me pre-conference anxiety...

    Cheers in advance.

My advice would be to setup meetngs in the same locaton/hotel whenever possible. I sometimes combine meetings in order to meet more folks. I've not attended a London event so I can't speak on that.

Get to the events early if you want a seat upfront so that you get a better view of speakers and to take photos.

I use my MP3 to take notes and record the speakers that talk about topics that are important to me

Take lots of pictures even though you don't know anyone because as tme goes on you wll get to know them.

Finally, and least important to some. LOL I would not over-do the partying untill the last day so that you are alert when needed. Plus you can sleep off the hang over on the looooooooong flight home.

    Hi Guys!

    Couple of quick answers -

Lots of space in this conference room so you should be ok and Gamtrack is right get their early so you get a good seat. We are going to look at releasing the talks on podcasts this year so if you miss anything you will be able to listen again - We have some really good SEO people speaking so make lots of notes!! Also in the presentations don't be afraid to ask questions, 9 times out of 10 everyone else wants to ask the same question.

With the bars - Bodog's is always impressive but who know's this year - By the sound of things there are going to be some impressive stands - I have heard their are even two DJ booths!!

If you have any other questions please don't hesitate to post them - I or someone will answer them and I am sure they will be of use to others.

I haven't been to a CAP event, but presume it is similar to the CAC conferences...

My advice is to attend as many speakers as possible... But more importantly, talk to other affiliates and affiliate managers. You'd be amazed how willing to help most aff managers are, especially if you can get commitments before they go back to their daily grind. Ask what you want to know - You'll get lots of useful information and have better relationships with folks in the future.
