I didn't mean YOU or YOUR grandad/dad, it was a comment about generational opportunity, based more on my own personal experiences.

As for the '******* mug' comment and tell me to my face etc, jeezus!! The Pardew gif thing was put in as a light-hearted joke as I felt you were sounding like an old geezer moaning in the pub. Guess it didn't go down too well.

You have some pretty harsh opinions, I have challenged some of your world views. When you have such strong views, people are going to challenge them. That's a forum, no need to start coming out with threats.

Sports betting is one of the main benefactors from a commercialised, slick, well-promoted product like the Premier League.

Were the good old days better, was it better when your dad/grandad was a low waged worker or a builder or working in the pits cos that's what many 'working class' men had to do and there weren't many opportunities? Or is it better that we live in a modern society, where people have been able to get educated, where markets have been opened up to allow competition and growth and where men don't have to walk round proving they are a 'real man' every 5 minutes? Basically you are just moaning about the 'way the world has gone' when you are in fact some of the main beneficiaries of this. Do you think your dad/grandad had the opportunity to go to other countries so cheaply, you're moaning about the 'working class' thing but now air travel is cheap, hotels/hostels are plentiful, it's much more accessible now than it ever has been to go to a major tournament like this and watch it.

I'm gona go Euro 2016 and embrace it, I love meeting new people from around the world, I love the atmosphere at these big tournies, I don't wana spend it sat in a crap English pub with 6 mates shouting at the screen and moaning about how **** everything has become. And I most definitely won't be 'following England around' while I'm there, I'll be watching whatever matches I get tickets for and enjoying the football. In the words of Alan Pardew:

I don't see why as a gambling affiliate I should not have an opinion about where football is going nowadays, neither I don't see why my opinion should be that it's all fine for me where football is going nowadays. Also having an opinion that it's not heading into the good direction, doesn't exclude taking opportunities that are available. You're making conclusions that are a bit hasty in my opinion.

Ofcourse Average Joe in 1960 was earning way less than Average Joe is earning now. But also, his expenses were way lower. He was perhaps paying € 25.000 for a house that now is costing you € 250.000. I'm a habitant of the right part of the political spectrum if it's about economics, but I also do see disadvantages of free markets. It's great that markets are free and growing, but it's disputable if it's great for Average Joe that lost his job because the factory can have the work done for a fraction of the price in China, Vietnam or Bangladesh. Or perhaps fresh air in Chinese cities. Grandfathers of most Chinese people living in those cities had it. I guess many Chinese people would prefer fresh air instead of being able to fly cheap to other cities. It has nothing to do with Euro 2016, but you were talking about "moaning where the world is going". But yes, going with the airplane was for the elite, but I don't think it was a big deal for most Average Joe people.

For the rest, I don't know. I also see disadvantages, not just advantages like cheap tickets.

We managed to get quite a lot of tickets but as usual travel and hotels looks a nightmare. I am not looking forward to the bills from that as we will give half of them away.

Try Airbnb website for accommodation and use the TGV for travel within France.

Not for me, Holland isn't qualified. A shame it is. We will be supporting Belgium more or less.

I eventually managed to acquire tickets for matches across France through that UEFA Marketplace, so thanks for those who suggested it.

TheGooner is right, Airbnb and TGV are the best way to go, but you can still expect some pretty high costs if you are watching games in several cities like myself.

Even so, I am sure it will all be worth it just to attend the Euro 2016 party.

I know it was only a friendly result for England at the weekend and I don't want to get over excited.

However we are almost certainly going to win it now, Kane and Vardy joint top scorers with 10 a piece.

Just when I thought poms were starting to get realistic expectations about their team.

My realistic expectation is for us to start an unfit Rooney and Wilshere, scrape qualification through the group and go out to the first decent team we meet.

    We can dream though!

I've been refreshing the ticket portal like a man possessed but have had no luck whatsoever.

Anyone know where I might be able to get tickets for any of the Wales games at not an extortionate price?

Only tickets for low-profile games were available at the ticket portal from day 1, so no wonder you were out of luck.

I believe that Viagogo are selling some tickets, although I am not sure they have UEFA's permission to sell them.

That's not quite true - we sold back several good tickets including two tickets to the semi-final in Marseille - because we ordered in blocks of four tickets but some people pulled out so we had spares.

I am sure that they don't have permission - UEFA explicitly say NO RESELLERS.

I did manage to get conditional tickets for Wales if they qualify for the final! From UEFA at face value 185 EUR which isn't bad. And of course they refund it if Wales (somehow) don't make it to the final!
