Exclamation Ask SportsBooks to Suspend FTD and Active Player Requirements

Hi fellow affiliates. I hope everyone is healthy.

I wrote US facing sportsbooks today asking them to suspend FTD (first time depositor) and minimum active player requirements until October 31, 2020.

It will be impossible to acquire new customers with major sporting events and seasons cancelled. Even if games resume by May or June, affiliates will struggle to meet T&C requirements. The US summer months are notoriously slow.

Remember, many programs will cut commissions or close accounts if new depositors aren't sent every X months. Now's the time for some solidarity.

Feel free to send your Aff manager the following email. I also included support addresses for most US sportsbooks below. I would hate to begin the NFL season at 10% because I couldn't send traffic for March Madness, the Kentucky Derby or NBA playoffs.

    -------------------
Please Suspend New Depositor and Player Activity Requirements until October 31, 2020

Dear Affiliate Department and Sportsbook Management,

I respectfully request that all first time depositor (FTD) and minimum active player (MAP) requirements be suspended until October 31, 2020. The recent cancellation of major US sporting events and seasons makes it impossible to satisfy existing program requirements.

Presently, it is anticipated US sports will resume activity in May or June. Even then, it will be extremely difficult for affiliates to meet depositor requirements. The summer months are notoriously slow. Most affiliates rely on customers acquired during the fall and winter months to bet on baseball or horse racing.

Please allow affiliates at least 2 months of the NFL to recoup their traffic and stay afloat. Reducing commissions while sports are on an indefinite hiatus would be grossly unfair. This would punish affiliates for something out of their control and likely put most out of business.

I would be extremely grateful if you allow me and other affiliates this courtesy. In the meantime, I wish you and your staff the best of health during this trying time. Let's all work together to survive what will certainly be a difficult period to come.

    Regards,

    Concerned Affiliate

I am not a sports affiliate, but I think that you have a great idea here and any sports book that does not work with its affiliates during this unprecedented closure should be shunned and shamed by all affiliates.

    A) no longer allow them
    B) do not like winning poker players
    C) charge insane fees

Thanks very much for your thoughts. Also posted at AGD.

I think most casino and poker affiliates will be in good shape for a while. After all, people stuck at home need something to do, especially gamblers.

But I do worry for you if and when the economy slows down. That's likely in the next 6 months if people in the USA, Canada, Europe, Australia etc start losing jobs. That's when the initial rush of bored people fades as greater financial pressures mount.

    Let keep fingers crossed.

    I agree with this.
However, I was looking at the handle on a US facing sportsbook and it is down to about 15% of normal. I was hoping there would be an increase in casino play to offset some of the downturn in sports betting but there was no increase in casino handle. With this in mind I also have to consider the ability of offshore operators to stay liquid during this time.

I'm getting UFC promos with generous deposit bonuses as I write from various books. They'll take credit card or BTC.

Liquidity is a worldwide issue at the moment, never mind the relatively obscure corner of offshore sportsbooks. USD will be king for the foreseeable future. People can't pay bills in BTC. I'm bearish on BTC until things return to normal.

Would really appreciate the books working with affiliates on this one. The T&C's are not weighted in our favor to begin with; this shock causes too much uncertainty and will put many in peril.

Actually, that's not entirely true. I believe a couple countries now accept BTC, even for taxes.

Thanks, stand corrected. That isn't possible in the USA for day-to-day expenses, the market I'm almost exclusively promoting to. I saw that Arizona accepts payments for property taxes, interesting!

Something has to give, that much is certain. For us, no European Tour PGA Tour golf means no meaningful traffic and the cancellation of The Masters - our biggest week of the year - is terrible news.

Of course, plenty of football affiliates are in the same boat as are other sports-specific affiliates. I understand this will be a challenging time for the bookies too with turnover being hammered, but if they use this is an opportunity to stitch up their partners with quota clauses then that’s the lowest of the low.

    Update March 16, 2020

5Dimes.eu - FTD and MAP requirements not applicable to my commission plan. No changes anticipated. Your plan may be different, contact support.

BookMaker.eu - Management is considering sportsbook-wide adjustments. Currently, player and affiliate withdrawals are limited. Note, they used to pay affiliates weekly on request. This might be curtailed.

No comment from BookMaker on FTD or MAP requirements pending management decision. Will update.

    Hello Everyone,

If you have an account with WebPartners.co we don't have a FTD and Active Player Requirement.

If you are on our Standard 25-35% 4 tier rev.share plan. 25% is the standard RS rate.

CPA affiliates will be hit hard by this as well.

It will be trying times for many in every industry. This event is unprecedented, as it's been said many times.
Try to stay somewhat optimistic that life could resume to some level of normalcy in 2-3 weeks from now.
Be safe and look after your family, friends and neighbors.

I do believe that people on CPA deals will suffer a lot too.

    But the idea is amazing.

Bookies, have to treat special way their affiliates in this hard times.

    Update 3/17/2020

RevenueNetwork (Bovada.lv, Bodog Asia) - Handling on an individual basis. I have been an affiliate for 10+ years. They said they wouldn't adjust my account. Highly suggest emailing them now to get this arranged!

Of course, I realize this could change in the coming days. Most responses have been positive or "We're talking it over with management" so far.

    Update 3/20/2020

CommissionKings.ag (Betonline.ag, SportsBetting.ag) stated they would suspend FTD and MAP requirements "until further notice". When pressed for a definitive response, they stated "Not sure. But rest assured that we are not rushing to change you back. We are aware this situation can be quite a while and will include any buffer time needed."

I recommend reaching out to them personally. If they get enough emails from affiliates, they might be inclined to be more generous and decisive.

    Good idea, @bpmee.

In this times, we have to push programs to stay focused on what we brign to them and such quotas have to taken down.

It would be very shady if they enforced those t&c's and should probably never be worked with again.

On the flip side, casino and poker have picked up quite a bit so If you have a multiple faceted website focus on casino and poker and poker and you might be surprised with the jump you see.
