I'm bummed I won't be there as I'll be in Vegas for a wedding. Sam and the rest of the team from Ludis Media Inc. will be there to represent. Let me know if you want to schedule a meeting with any of the team and I'll catch everyone at the next conference or party...whichever comes first

Could not agree more. The one thing vegas has that no other place has is the Spearmint Rhino.. (I should specify that the one in vegas is the best - there are a few around the planet)

*sigh* I wish we could do these things in vegas again

and if you get bored of Vegas.. you shouldn't be in Vegas. I like that fact that at 4am you can actually do downstairs and grab a drink, have a meal, and do stuff. Everywhere else.. oh sorry we close at 1am.

Too True! I should rephrase- I'm disappointed the dates clash thus preventing two fun-filled trips in Sept. instead of just the one.

French train stations were crazy for pick pocket'ters - I left my camera, and phone on the table while I was having a coke and a smile - and the guy who ran the cafe said, not to put it there, because thieves come in, distract you and swipe stuff of the table. I looked around.. and sure enough - even the locals were keep their things in pockets and bags. Crazy.

I must stress that I am not trying to scare anyone or put them off going! I'm just sharing the article so that you guys are aware of the types of scams that *can* happen. I'm not saying they will. Forewarned is forearmed etc.

I hope everyone who attends has a fabulous time and stays safe

Re Barcelona and safety - There is of course petty crime, but like anywhere in the world you get this, you just need to be aware....For example in Budapest there are numerous warnings about pickpockets etc. on the same site you posted (http://journals.worldnomads.com/safe...pest-Bar-Scams) and (http://journals.worldnomads.com/safe...ry-Petty-Crime) in fact the US embassy even has a list of strip clubs on it that are safe because there are so many dodgy ones that rip you off for thousands or worse!

As for Barcelona it can't be that bad it is the 10th most visited city in the world http://www.euromonitor.com/top-150-c...he-way/article and just recently one of the biggest conferences in the world (60k people) chose Barcelona over a number of European cities http://www.mobileworldcapital.com/press/index.htm

Anyway I am going on - I think Neil's article is actually very useful and we will probably send this to all delegates now but as it says be vigilant, I have been to Barcelona around 15 times and never been robbed but I have seen people pickpockets and even caught one once (she then spat on me....Joy!) and it was the people that left their bags on the side, or open, or fell for the map trick which by the way I fell for in London so ot can happen anywhere.

    LOL

    Thanks for the positivity.

These things don't happen in Australia.. I guess we take the safety and lack of pickpockets and scammers for granted.

Anyway I will make sure I stay with people and not get left on the side of the road alone looking for a cab at 4am again like last time

    Cheers

Thanks for the post - are you sure someone who was in Barca for the last event didnt write that after their mugging / pickpockets / attacks!?!? only kidding!! Despite all of that I am really looking forward to Barca again this year. It didn't feel the same without a party down by the harbour!
