Default Best use of my time? backlinking?

I am trying to start getting my site top ranked.
I was wondering what the best use of my time?

I seem to spend countless hours looking for places to backlink.
I am finding it hard to even get a good link anywhere.

What is the best use of my time getting top listed the right way?

Are you looking to buy links or free links ?

If you are looking to buy, then maybe you should try linksmanagement_com

you can search for keywords like "online casino" and it will show you relevant websites you can buy links from, with stats like moz PA and DA.

When you have purchased your link placement on a site of your choice, the owner has 3 days to place the link. If this does not happen you will get you money back. (the owner of the website can also decline your link)

So it's like a link broker I guess...People sign up to sell and buy.

Not looking to pay thousands of dollars a month for links.

I'm looking to do the work myself.

I would say adding quality unique content, and getting back links are the 2 most important factors in ranking and generating sales.

Well your are doing it yourself :P

And the prices vary from 2,5 dollars permanent placement to many many dollars, haha. ( you can also do monthly payments, but I prefer permanent)

But the best thing in my opinion is that you keep track on all your links and if some of them gets removed lets say 2 months from now, you get notified.

I see it says get in the top 10... 3-6 months.. I'm in the top 10 for a lot of targeted keywords and I have never brought a link, and have done little backlink building, Content.. IMO A killer article will gain you more SERP ranking than backlinks alone, if you can do both even better.. I try and make long scrolling articles covering every detail.. I have pages with 0 backlinks out ranking authority sites.. difference is the amount of content. it might not work for everyone but I think with the newer sites it's needed.. it certainly works for me.

Look to add quality content to your website first and the links will come naturally.

Add a signature - Put a few links in it. Start posting (more) and you are already on your way building some real quality links..

I also put some time in the backlink topic but then I started to think about how I can improve my content and it seems that this is a good strategy. Of course links are still important but not like some years ago. I would put my time only in developing the website and bring more quality content to your visitors. This will definitely help.

    1. Make some good articles.
    2. Ask owners of related websites to submit your articles for a backlink.

Have you tried content marketing? Like document sharing, video submission, infographic(if applicable) and blogging/vlogging.
If you haven't then give it a try, it will take a lot of time and effort but it is good for long term purposes.
Content marketing helps increase organic search and organic traffic.
On the other hand, you can also try blog commenting. I know it is an old tactic but if done in a right way it can still be beneficial.
One or two blog communities will do. Engage and share ideas, and you are most likely to build trust and online reputations within the community.

focus on creating the best site there is. place unique content, about topics that people would like to share. be better than the rest. while people do not link to each other that much in this industry, people do love to link out to authorities. become that authority.
links will come by itself in the long run.

We (comparethelotto[dot]com) have a blog which we update regularly with unique content but this just doesn't seem to generate links.

Are link exchanges not considered useful anymore? Or even buying links?

It is not reasonable to demand "my site top ranked".
You should use your time to think why your brain has such a flaw, that you want to be the best, top ranked and bullshit like that.

Apparently you do not know anything and have not made anything, so big success for you is even to rank and get 1st player etc.

To be the best starts with humility. Doing affiliate business is not like doing startup company. This is about real cash and small steps forward.

The best invested time for you is to change habits, avoid reading texts that force you to be the best etc. Then you might be ready for long long annoying and boring journey that - maybe - might end with some pocket money.

I was wondering what the best use of my time? - I would say read sites like SEORoundtable, and write content for your site. Focus on the structure of your site and on-page SEO, Other good sites are marketingland.com and SEOTheory.com

I seem to spend countless hours looking for places to backlink. - You need to research how you can "earn backlinks" and after that how to earn good backlinks. Learn how to use Moz's DA & PA to determine if a site is good. HINT - you can get backlinks right in front of your face.

What is the best use of my time getting top listed the right way?

Content, research, site structure, understanding all of the variables google, yahoo and bing uses. Also understanding how the engines work. Instead of thinking about backlinks to get your site listed, think a good marketing plan, My two cents.

Getting your site listed right away is not realistc, the best SEO's can do it and keep it in 30-45 days. I would set a goal for 6-12 months, considering it takes time to gain trust with the engines. You can use majestic SEO to measure your citation and trust flow. If you do not know about Citation and trust google it, it should be helpful.

I'd always take google with a pinch of salt, i've pulled up the back link profiles of a number of top ranked websites for specific search terms (1500 searches a month plus) and they're all spammed with either terrible links or bought site wide links, not to mention their OTT anchor text variation.

Link building is still alive and kicking, and in my opinion probably works better to rank your website than content. Thats why you see many people using the churn and burn method so well today.

I can't stop reading about "quality content and links will come by themselves". While i think this is true for entertaining or informative content, I don't believe it is for affiliate websites. Who would send a link to a casino website comparison website himself?
