Default Best way to add new content to your site for SEO purposes

    Hey guys,

Obviously good rank sites if they are updated frequently, what is the best way to keep your site updated if you dont have a news feed/blog. If your site is static HTML for example. Is it as simple as adding more and more pages? Isn't one going to end up having a huge menu if that happens?

    Advice is appreciated!

    Thanks

you can add a blog on to the side of your site, that is what I do. Add pages as new products come along etc and use the blog for day to day extra fresh content

Is that better than adding new pages?

there is nothing wrong with adding new pages, but if you want to add new pages every day you will be better off attaching a blog as well

    I see, Thanks.

How about linking pages from another site I run? If it is hosted on the same server, is that allowed or will google punish for it?

It most likely will not punish it but if it hosted on the same IP it will recongize it and you will not get link juice from it. Make sure you link pages together that make sense. For instance if you have a site on slots and you link it to a poker site, it may be good but it is much better to get a link on a slot site.

Also in regards to having a huge menu, it is important to make a clear hierarchy of you links.

Adding some fresh decent content to a news section would benefit you SEO wise. Just paginate it like a blog. So up to date articles show first, but users can filter through older stuff should they wish. You mention static html, well have yoursite.com/news.html and then put links to your news items (i.e. news/news-item-one.html) with a short description. I am sure there would be some code out there is help you achieve pagination. You only need one menu item this way. It would also be a good idea to implement rel="next" and rel="prev" tags on your news page.

I agree that adding new content is a good idea and regardless of which niche you are in, there are nearly always *some things* that are news worthy. Create a blog but also use it to feature news pieces, no matter what you're promoting, there is usually something. For instance, if your in the casino niche, you could blog about a big jackpot win, poker you could blog about a big upcoming tournament. As long as it has the quality factor, and is unique, Google will be happy with it!

I agree with Lowrisk, the idea that it has to be done through wordpress is incorrect.

Many may choose to use this method, but that doesn't mean you can't do it in html. Having a news or what's new page that helps visitors (as well as search engines) that link to new pages as you add them is a good idea also.

if casino related website is linking to casino related website there is no problem.Google isnt going to penalize your website. Google isnt going to penalized your website if yours website is getting links from poker related sites, or slots related sites or roulette sites. All this words are relevant to onlne casino. Be carefull to linking from another sites you run.You can get penalized if you check the site with who is domain tool you can get who is owner of the domain.

But I will slightly disagree with you, if you have a slots site or a slots page, links from a slots site or a slots page is a whole lot better than links from roulette....because it also make more sense for a visitor. (but you are right a roulette link to a slots page is better than one from a car dealer)

Not sure if you posted your response in the wrong thread, but the question was asked about content and new pages, and nothing to do with links.

I too, have a blog page at the site. I do 'bloglets' where I use an attention-grabbing headline with 5-8 sentences and add a related graphic.
This feed is then linked to FBook and Twitter for extra coverage. This is a good place for those lower traffic pages to renew interest and grab some traffic. See: http://www.gamerisms.com/gamerisms-s...ames-blog.html
I also have created separate feeds for casino, sports, etc sections from the site that brings in traffic
    Hope this helps.

if you want to add new content, listen to the suggestions above, they are great. add new pages (there`s no problem, it`s good), and make a blog like structure, maybe as simple as @lowrisk suggested. Make sure your site is well interconnected through links and you`ll be fine.

you can seperate them using a sub-domain if you like. I have casino reviews on my pokersite and wish I made a sub-domain for it.

I can agree about separating your content with sub-domains, this is what we are in the process of doing. i.e. casino.yoursite.com poker.yoursite.com.

You could ever go as far as having different themes/template for each sub-domain.
