Angry Betfair Affiliates Programme Closure - UK & Ireland

Received this today. Not overly surprised, but it did come out of the blue...

    Anyone else receive it too?

As part of a series of changes to the UKI market and an increasingly complex regulatory landscape, we have decided to close the UKI arm of our Betfair.com affiliates programme. From the 1st of July 2025, we will cease sending UKI data and all UKI affiliate marketing services will be removed from the Betfair.com affiliate frontend.

The betfair.com programme will continue to operate as normal, so this will not impact your international traffic, data or operations.

If you have any questions regarding our affiliate programme, please contact your account manager.

    Kind regards,
    Betfair Operations Team

Should we read that as '...we have decided to close the UKI arm of our Betfair.com affiliates programme and keep all those UKI players you've sent us over the years' or are they going to keep paying for those players?

Hahahaha - if their track record is anything to go by (they terminated our Paddy Power account without good reason last year), then I think we all know what's going to happen to all those players!

In our case that's 500+ active monthly players and £100k in monthly deposits....GONE

How did it come out of the blue? Most of us got closure emails back in 2017 . This is just one step further. Excluding bet365, this is how all UK betting companies got rid of affiliates and paying their commissions. For anyone left working with any of them, you are literally asking to be scammed.

Not exactly a surprise. We stopped promoting Betfair across all geos years ago after experiencing their poor treatment of affiliates (and i'm being gentle here). That included shaving accounts without any notice, ignoring emails, and generally showing zero respect for partners. We’ve moved on, and never looked back!

Well, yeh, when they did that to our PP account it was just a matter of time, but they moved our BF account over to a decent CPA so continued working with them for the sake of the healthy Rev Share we were generating each month. Kinda had us in a catch-22.

I wonder what is the percentage of grey/black market gambling in UK? There are a lot topics about regulation issues and complexity so would not be surprised if the share is significant. The worse the regulation, the better for unregulated actors.

It will be interesting to see if there are any exceptions to the rule on 1st July, I wouldn't be surprised given that there are a select few promoting Sky Bet still after their programme 'closed' back in 2017.

They already culled most affs, us included, over the last few years. I think we were shut down in early 2022. I assumed they had already cherry picked the bigger affs they wanted to work with.

There will be some they carry on with no doubt, like the select few that promote Sky Bet still. I doubt they will be cutting off sites like the Racing Post.

Shame on Betfair! They shut down my affiliate account a few years ago after building for them a very good customer base in Italy. A bunch of people who's right hand doesn't know what their left hand is doing. They also gave me a very hard time to get my docs for my tax declaration there, although I finally I got it. Never more with them!!!

Interesting to see Betfair (sportsbook) has dropped off of Oddschecker now, to you point I'd have thought that Oddschecker would been one of those to survive if there were going to be any. Other Flutter brands have also been shunted to the right - would suggest some difficult conversations have been had since this announcement.

This tickled me on X from AKBets who now reside in the same area as the remaining Flutter brands: https://x.com/AKBets/status/1929617454180753866
