betonline.ag opens up just fine for me. Although there was some trouble before.
You'd be working hard to lose "millions" at BetOnline given their limits.
I heard through the grape vine that the group attacking BetOnline, Sportsbetting.ag, Commission.bz is the same group who has recently attacked other offshore providers. This would lead me to conclude that the "pissed of syndicate" idea is incorrect.
FYI, commission.bz appears to be, if you pardon the pun, back in commission.
