Default Betsson closing ACTIVE affiliate accounts

Summary of Changes: Betsson / Affiliate Lounge are closing affiliate accounts with MANY, MANY players. They are stealing commissions for GOOD affiliates. This operation has PROVEN ROGUE STATUS over years of predatory behavior. It may be time to band together for a lawsuit or at least block their progress into regulated markets.
Guard Dog's Reflections on the Impact for Affiliates: This is the MOST ROGUE activity I have seen for an operation. Affiliates are angered.
    Details:
    Predatory:
We are writing to notify you that your account has been inactive for the past 6 months (has not generated a minimum level of activity / new depositing players).Under rule 7.9 of our terms and conditions the Company reserves the right to set limits for a minimum level of activity on Affiliate’s accounts and to terminate any agreement not reaching the limit.Consequently our Affiliate Agreement is now being terminated. Your March and remaining unpaid commission will be paid out in early April 2014 and your account will be permanently shut down after this process. You will not be eligible to earn or receive Commissions after the effective termination date.
    Predatory:
Here are a few links from affiliates receiving these termination messages from Betsson:http://www.affiliateguarddog.com/for...atelounge.html

ugh, I quite liked the brand and thought about promoting them, certainly won't now and will close my player account.

This is rampant. Lots of real, active affiliates are losing their player base and current commissions. I'm not sure how AL is justifying their termination of accounts except that they cite 7.9. Apparently 'minimum activity' even applies to affiliates who are sending traffic

    This is REAL theft. Stealing.

If you promote them, you may be making money - but I would RAMP DOWN. Eventually they are going to take it anyway, don't let them take too much of your livlihood.

MODERATOR: PLEASE CHANGE TITLE Closing, not clsoing (I guess I was in a hurry due to anger)

Indeed - we've had our account tagged for closure this weekend as well.

The term quoted is 7.9 which I found on site – and is quoted as

7.9 The Company reserves the right to set limits for a minimum level of activity on Affiliate’s accounts. Such minimum activity levels will be continuously reviewed and the Company reserves the right to terminate any agreement not reaching the limit. Such limit shall not be unreasonably high and reflect the intention of avoiding accounts where the revenue does not cover the Company’s internal costs for maintaining the account and the payout procedure.

I checked our account and in the last six months we gave 55,000 banner impressions - had 38 registrations - 19 new depositors and had xxx profits in five months out of six.

Given that AffiliateLounge provide zero support / contact, and pay via moneybookers it's hard for me to believe that :
    - the revenue does not "cover the companies internal costs"
    - or that we did not reach "minimum activity levels ... that shall not be unreasonably high".

It's just an account grab or a very ineffective account manager.

Thank you Gooner for the post and I am sorry you too are now having to deal with this issue.

My guess is that YOU likely can get your account taken care of but it truly does show the complete arrogance of the group and pretty much proves no affiliate can ever really safely promote them.

Quotas are bad for ALL affiliates, and a few affiliates that years ago told me I was foolish for thinking that, have recently admitted I was correct years ago.

Ok, my affiliate manager just got back to me and said that they won't close my account. It was an automatic message... Strange business this whole thing. I guess I have to believe it for now.

This has been a concern for a while now, especially as it's active affiliates who are getting canned (which makes literally no sense to me).

The annoying thing is that I never even wanted to promote the Betsson group in the first place, they just kept buying up other brands that I did promote (NordicBet, Maxino etc..).

Does anyone know what kind of time period they're checking over (ie: do the emails state a time frame such as 'over the past xxx months' your activity has decreased?) - if some some tactical timing of removal could be in order...

I think that only they know that information, but it seems to me like they are sending out that email to pretty much everyone. I've heard of people earning thousands per month receiving that email.

Maybe they are just throwing paint at a canvas to see what sticks?? Whatever sticks is new money they have stolen?

Who knows... dump them if you can.

From what I've read (on various places) it seems like the decision to close accounts isn't directly to do with revenue, more about the number of new accounts (although of course, the end aim is clearly to stop paying commissions - what I mean is that the criteria for the closure is RMP based). Plus I was chatting to someone from AL at LAC a couple of years ago they seemed to fixate on RMP numbers over anything else (eg: almost like they didn't care about retention, player value etc..).

It is looking like it's time to subtly dump them (a decision that's made a bit easier when they shut down NordicBet to UK players, which wiped my nordicbet player base in one fell swoop)... shame though because I do like Betsafe a lot. Ho hum..

Very strange... I didn't receive this email... yet... I have active account with rev-share and I even send them few new depositors every month...

but it doesn't change the fact I hate when this happened, feeling so helpless that I cant do anything to strike back while these thieves are simply stealing from the defenseless because they know they can't do anything...

DAMN this makes me angry !!!

Did anyone tried to contact them ? did any of their representative explained what is going on ?

I received the e-mail, but I stopped promoting their brands actively in April 2013 after various issues. My affiliate manager told me that the e-mail was a mistake though and apologized for the inconvenience.

Yes, I think they have an automatic algorithm to locate forgotten affiliate accounts and close them in order to save some bucks. This time though, it went very wrong. At least it's good knowing about the 7.9 rule and that they can close accounts when they feel like it

My advice to anyone that received this mail, is to contact your affiliate manager at Betsson asap.

No response from Affiliate Lounge / Betsson here on the suggested email address in the deactivation email ...
No idea who our AM there is ... never heard from him/her ...

We've simply reacted quickly by cutting Affiliate Lounge / Betsson out from the site within 12 hours of receipt.
I can't be bothered with a group that thinks that's a way to run a business - error or not.

They want inactive affiliates? They got one.

    Good riddance.

They just closed my account. I had worked with them for about 14 years.
It's sad to see how rogue they became.

Amazing... sorry to hear that, after 14 years no-one in the company didn't even listen to you...
    I must say I'm shocked.
Its a great way to lose all their affiliates very fast
I'm going to mention this to them on the next conference in Amsterdam...

Sorry to see all this as I have been working with AL for years without any issues - it is a fact that they always had bad support - to put it right NO SUPPORT at all but commissions were always paid and on time.

I didn't get any email referring to the closure of my account, however noticed a big drop in earnings in last 5-6 months and suspicious figures in signups - I'm well aware of my traffic and figures I should see. Although I can't prove anything (don't want to waste my time on it anyway) I have my doubts about the program.

When I talked to their aff team at last years A'dam conference they were rude, ignorant and showed no interest whatsoever for the business. The thing is they changed the crew (that is my impression) and that didn't went well. They even sent me an email a while back asking where did I get the Betsfe bonus code although the code was issued years ago (when Betsafe was running their aff program on Net Refer platform)??
That much about their affiliate program and knowledge about their partners!

I guess it will be a simple decision - remove all the brands and just stop promoting. Shame tho, as players seems to like Betsson, Betsafe and Nordicbet.

Betsson is quite famous for not responding. It doesn't matter if you are an affiliate, a player or a who ever. Also their affiliateprogram isn;t working that well: outdated banners, no banners, database errors when I try to login, etc...

Meanwhile they're opening one and another affiliate website to promote their own casino's.

Honestly, I liked their casino's. Great look & feel, nice variety of games, good live casino, nice bonus offers, etc but... the way they are behaving. They think they're some kind of God. Buying one and another casino, creating one and another affiliate site to promote their brands... and meanwhile not updating and let work properly their affiliate program, closing affiliate accounts, not paying players, not responding players, etc...

They got some top positions on my websites, but I dropped them down. I don't want to be associated that much with this sort of casino's. I don't want to lead my players to casino's that are not responding, breaching terms and contracts, etc.

I honestly think they don't care that much about affiliate sites, as they're having their own affiliate websites here.
