    Thumbs down BetVictor Closing accounts

We've just had notification from BetVictor that they've closed our account immediately.
They invoked the usual new depositors clause :

We reserve the right to close your Affiliate Account when we consider that you have breached the terms of this Agreement. We also reserve the right to close your Affiliate Account when we consider it inactive.
Your Affiliate Account is inactive when:
i.You do not log in for a minimum of three (03) consecutive months; and/or
ii.You have not referred a minimum of three new (03) depositing customers per calendar month
We had been working with this group since 2006 and had generated over 250,000 GBP in profit for them.
We currently do not meet their threshold, but I've written to them asking for a human re-evaluation.

I do not hold out much hope as their final line was

Please do not hesitate to contact if you have any further questions however this decision is final and will not be reversed.
Which I read as saying ... "so long and thanks for the referrals ... sucker."

That's very disappointing. I promote them but they convert really badly, as do William Hill. I have only given them 5 depositing referrals so far this month with an increase in traffic thanks to world cup. So I struggle with them nowadays on normal months. Yet Bet365, who ought to be even more saturated in UK market, convert so much better. I guess if you are getting that email, it's only a matter of time for the likes of me.

Gooner, I'm really sorry to hear that happened to you. Since 2006 is a long time and the same thing happened to me and a relative of mine just last year, with a program that we had been with since 2008 or 2009. I even implored them to keep the accounts open and that we would work even harder and do more things for them, but they still wouldn't listen. It's absolutely disgusting how they pull this crap on their affiliates. I mean, as long as your old players keep generating an income for their company, they have no right at all to do this BS to you. I just see this as a lie from them to close accounts and to steal. I'm quite sure that they're still going to shaft more affiliates down the line.

I think it depends a bit on the AM as to how it's enforced. I would not have sent them much more than 1-2 per month recently.

What is disappointing is that I got the email at 5.57am my time and the account was already closed when I tried to login at 9.00am to check stats.

BetVictor are small fish for us these days - as you say poor converters and their offering are slipping odds wise - but I always had them as a safe secure place to play and so recommended them to players as approved.

But as I say we had 16 years working with them - I found this a ****** way to end the partnership.

Yes, I've worked with them from the very start and seen how disgracefully they have treated affiliates over the years, particularly recent years. I've sent them thousands of players some years, though the numbers are way lower all round now. I am down to four uk bookies and I used to promote them all but one way or another all the others have ripped me off. I promoted all these crooks previously: paddy power & betfair, skybet, coral, ladbrokes, unibet and others. Every single one of those named firms are dishonest thieves. It's just a pattern and it only ends one way. I'd love to say that one day they'd get their cumuppance, but IRL the bookies will escape censure. I mean they all use offshore havens to shaft UK tax payer and it seems to be the only sector that remains ignored / untouchable.

Are you able to share who's left that's trustworthy aside from 365, Tufty?

I only trust Bet365. The other three are all firms, like BetVictor, that have a history of closing affiliate accounts - they just haven't closed mine yet.

Your 24 years in this gig (1999), I'm 23 @ 2000. We've both been round the block more than a few times, hey! Your probably the same, I can count on 1 hand programs who have closed shop, or ended partnership agreements, in an honourable manner.

The rest have blindsided me, closed accounts, stolen commissions and players too.

Yep - getting too old for this. I think my site will slowly wind down over the next 2-3 years collecting residuals
I can't be arsed with the bullsh!t and the process of selling.

You've done well to keep it together Dave - and still going strong?

    ----------------------

As for BetVictor - I wrote back to BetVictor - they haven't replied yet - I didn't expect it.
To be fair I did immediately start the process of removal - it'll take a while.

I expect that the AM is a relative newbie with 3-4 years in the game and little understanding of the term "partnership".
And the head person clearly has a directive to reduce affiliate costs and headcount ... with little concept of fair business.

I'm guessing we're about the same vintage. Like your good self, I can't be arsed either.

The industry we cut our teeth on, has long since gone.
We're dealing with a different breed. One which generally doesn't give two hoots about loyalty nor longevity.

Just because it seems like a great business/company decision, doesn't always make it the right decision. But you can't put an old-head on young shoulders - they will learn by experience, as I suppose we all do.

    Take it easy my friend...
