    Default Betway Twitter Ban

I don't know how many people here use Twitter as a way of promoting bookies but I have just been told by my Betway account manager that all affiliate activity on Twitter is being banned. Sign of the times to come maybe with so many people looking to make a quick buck and spamming links everywhere like they are pissing all over a toilet seat?

Rather than include aff links in tweets, why not include aff links in a blog post, and then tweet a shortURL to the blog post?

Betway cant ask you to stop sending referral traffic from social to your website - so this makes sense !

That's what we always do. But there are some promotions where we put it in twitter, but link is shortened. Just try not to be like robot and always put aff links in all of your tweets.

What about 301 link redirect? wouldn't that work and mask where it came from?

Were you told verbally or by email? Seen nothing yet myself and have recently started promoting Betway.

Tbh I'm surprised that direct linking from twitter (even through a link shortener or redirect on your own site) was ever allowed on social media, let alone still being ok with a lot of programs - I could see this changing soon as it's just getting a bit spammy out there in the socialsphere.

True, but you don't need to follow twitter accounts that do it.

This makes perfect sense. For a number of reasons, I wouldn't add direct affiliate links in a tweet. For one thing, if an affiliate program changed it's linking structure, then the affiliate would have to go through all the tweets and correct the links.

That can look and feel spammy so I would avoid it just for that reason, but I foresee more regulations in the future so I don't think it is worth it.

A bit spammy is an understatement!! I wouldn't be surprised if Twitter themselves do something about it soon. I started this business the wrong way round I think, as I built my whole effort around Twitter. However I'm now building my site and the fact that I have quite a few Twitter accounts with large followings should give me a great start when I launch my own site. I'm hoping to be able to drive a lot of traffic straight to the siite from Twitter.

Honestly, this is one of the best ideas I've seen. No way would they ban you for that - only maybe if they found it but I doubt that. Good job man, just helped me and a lot of other people.
