Well i have at the moment 3,000 backlinks and according to the Majestic SEO website my top 5 backlinks are FROM THIS FORUM!!!!!
So how can you say forum backlinks are worthless?
more to the point what do your rankings say?
As my site is only 10 months old and Google likes "aged" domains i am not too concerned about my rankings at the moment!.....Freebets.com is 12 years old and Freebets.co.uk 8 years old and you have a better "Authority Domain" than both of them!!!!.....which just goes to show how Google likes "Aged" domains!!!!
It is just a matter of waiting for my links to "age" a bit!!!!......Google suspects all sites under 1 year old as potential "spam" sites!!!!
so you are saying they are top because of age? google doesnt suspect all sites under 1 year old as a spam site either
also dont worry that some seo tool says i have a more authority domain either, the only one worth worrying about is google, generally the seo tools arent up to much, well the free versions anyway.
but back to what I was saying about forum links, go and research any half competitive search and I'm certain you won't find any site in the top 3 using forum links to get there, you can also throw blog commenting, article spinning and directory submission
Yes i suppose you have got to trust the seo tools that you use!!!!
But is is surprising how free-bets.co.uk and freebets.org are in the top 10 for the seach term "Free bets" with very basic backlinks!!!!.....but both domains have been around for years and all the seo forums i go on say that Google treats "aged" domains like a mature wine(the older the better!)
Yes your probably right about blog commenting........they use to be good for getting backlinks but not worth much seo benefit to your site nowadays!!!!
Again with directories.....i have read Matt Cutts saying they are of no benefit for seo purposes unless on the same "subject" and even then have little seo benefit!!!!
those 2 sites have got good backlink profiles with some very strong links, don't understand the 'basic backlink' comment.
age does help but it isn't the be all and end all, i out rank a 16 year old domain for a search that that site is an exact search, so there are 2 myths put to bed
Well i think they are in the top 10 because of their "domain age" rather than their backlinks or site content!!!!!
Free-bets.co.uk has hardly any "content" at all??????
But i am not in the top 10 for "free bets" and you are so i had better shut up now!!!!!....lol
We can`t seem to agree on anything!!!!
Should we get a divorce?......lol
I still say the fact that the domain is 7 years old and has many "aged" backlinks is a major reason why he is ranking so highly!!!!!
But you are entitled to your point of view!!!!
Well i hope you get well soon there is nothing worse than having Flu
They say you know when you have flu when you can`t get out of bed to pick a £50 note up 2 yards away!!!!!........lol
Yes you tell me your views on seo but when you tell me stuff like forum backlinks are a waste of time and my 5 TOP backlinks are from this forum i sometimes take your views with a pinch of salt if you appreciate where i am coming from!!!!!
Another chap told me there was no such a thing as a "Google Sandbox" that new websites go into and having personally spent 7 months in the "Google Sandbox" and then leaving it "overnight" after 7 months,i take his views with a pinch of salt too!
At the end of the day you are a rival webmaster in my chosen field and for all i know could be trying to throw me off the scent for obvious reasons!!!!.....lol
there is more than one keyword to go for so i would never throw people of the scent, just don't like seeing people waste their time.
RE - The Sandbox, that exists. there are interviews out there with Matt Cutts about it
RE - Forum links, they got devalued years ago. Linking is supposed to be all about getting "votes" from other websites so links that you can get and give yourself aren't going to carry hardly any weight. If you think outside the box though they are good for one thing, getting pages cached quicker.
Yes there are hundreds of keywords to go for and far too many for one website to dominate!
I am a bit distracted at the moment as i am also on a dating site and a 22 year old is chatting me up!!!....must be a hoax.....i am 47 for christs sake!!!!.....lol
And yes i sound sad been on a dating site before you say it but i have bedded over 100 women off it in 3 years so i don`t care!!!!.....lol
Yes i have heard rumours that Google "delay" the effect of backlinks for 6 months to make it appear that a "sandbox" exists!!!......and in my experience that theory fits perfectly but i don`t know if is true!!!!....lol

I should of not mentioned my dating site on here but i was amazed a 22yr old got in touch with me considering i am 47!!!!....lol
Even more surprised when she wanted a date......but wanted me to take her shopping for a new dress and she said she would also need a new mobile phone to check on the kids whilst on the date!!!!.....lol.......must think i was born yesterday!!!!.....lol
But i must start concentrating on the seo of my site as i seem to be slipping down the rankings a bit!!!!.....or is that just the Google Dance?.....lol
It must of been the Google dance effect as i have jumped back up the rankings to where i was!!!!....lol
It is one big learning curve doing seo and i don`t think i will ever truly master it!!!!!!
I have read the entire read carefully but I still have a query:
How can I know whether a SEO company is good, bad or ugly, even before giving my project to it?
short version would be
1 - check references
2 - check case study
3 - meet in person before doing business (people are easier to read this way)
That would be my advice
