Default Bing won't index my site.

Site in sig. Has been up since January, registered and submitted at Google (webmaster tools), Yahoo (site explorer) and Bing (webmaster center). Google crawled instantly, nicely indexed now. Yahoo has it well indexed too. But Bing still hasn't indexed even the home page after 4-5 months.

I have double checked the XML sitemap submission in webmaster center etc. and it all looks fine. Is Bing pickier about crawling sites and requires a lot more backlinks first? Is there another reason anyone can think of? Anyone else had this?

    Hints and tips most welcome!

I had a site that wasn't listed in Bing as well. I wrote an email explaining my concerns and asking if they would look into it.

A few days later a reply came back saying that all sites on this server were banned due to just one using black hat techniques to try to rank higher. It was a shared hosting account.

However, they said that they would re-include it due to my email and I was back in within a day or two. Very polite and pleasant email conversation - kudos to Bing.

    Worth a try!

Thank you Doolally, a good point as I am on shared hosting and the site shares a host/ip with umpty-thousand other sites. I couldn't find an email addy for Bing but am registered in their webmaster centre and forums and there is a huge thread on there for people to post with exactly my problem, so I posted.

If that doesn't work I will hunt harder for that email addy!

I had problems with Bing for one of my sites, and spent months searching their help emailing etc.

In the end, I got no answers or solutions, not even from them. To cut a long story short out of the blue some time later my site was indexed!

I've also got another site and after a few months Bing has just started to index pages other than my homepage.

They seem quite a slow search engine? Maybe not enough backlinks, don't know. But as you say, Yahoo and Google seem to do ok

You know it's actually ironic that Bing is accused of not indexing sites due to them being on a shared ip with others that might be banned due to spamming....

Microsoft themselves are some of the biggest proponents for MANY years in having numerous websites on the same ip...

I have found Bing to be much slower at indexing sites than the other engines...

I had an issue with Bing being rather slow and unresponsive to crawl one of my new sites. It would be weeks between visits, I did the email thing to them and basically was told "We'll get there when we get there".

One thing I have been doing and it appears to help a bit is to ping them anytime I add or remove a page.

    Code:
    http://www.bing.com/webmaster/ping.aspx?sitemap=http://YOURWEBSITE.com/sitemap.xml

Yeah, I resubmitted my site via that 'add site to bing link' - twice (I found two different ways of doing it) and as I said posted on their forum (I don't think that works). But basically it can take months for Bing to get to a site sometimes (from some reading of others' problems on the web and fora) so I am going to sort of ignore it (perhaps resubmit now and again when I add a lot of content) and keep an eye on the stats for visits by MSNbot!

I notice that Bing indexes sites slower than Google now.

Just bumping to say that my site is now indexed in Bing - albeit just the home page. This happened in the last day or three (i.e. since I last checked) and I guess is as a result of one of the things I did (see upthread) - either resubmitting the sitemap or posting in the Bing forum or something.

So thanks to the posters here with their suggestions, as one of them worked! I guess it will be another four months before they consider indexing the rest of the site but it is a start!
