block google bots?

Hi,

Been googling around to see if there is a fixed list of IP's out there that is verified as google bots. The reason is that we dont want them to count as clicks on the affiliate stats since it messes up the stats when checking clicks to signup.

It is not like google is going to create a player account :), and we want to be able to show the most accurate stats for you guys.

So is there a list, or any other good way to get around it?

Thanks
Henrik

You could look at the user agent. If the user agent contains "googlebot," don't count the click; otherwise, count the click. :)

yes I know what you mean! I also find that the bots from search engines can confuse the stats......

I would agree engineer as this is how I determine the stats facts etc

regards

Thanks all, will bring it up to our tech guys behind the program, and see if they can solve it that way.

Cheers
Henrik

you could just look at the visits from the bot via webmaster and subtract at months end.

Henrik the other thing you can do is check the project honeypot site to see if they know what/where the IP originates from..

This is a pretty handy tool.. Highly recommended.

Thanks all for the input,

After a talk with our great suppliers, it will be the the user-agent solution that will be implemented. Appreciate the help and feedback from affiliates and AM's alike.

Thanks
