Rehabilitation, forgiveness and second chances

Down the years in many different situations I have seen many debates on forgiveness, second chances and rehabilitation ranging from wayward footballers to criminals to sportsbooks and casinos.
Now, of course it depends on what the situation is and in the majority of cases no two situations are the same. You cannot compare Charles Manson to Grand Prive Casinos when discussing second chances.
You cannot compare a drunken sports star in a fight outside a nightclub with a drunk behind the wheel of a car that mows down a family of five.
But the concept and principle of second chances and forgiveness is still a relevant subject, especially on these forums.
Can Grand Prive ever be forgiven? What if they were to pay back every affiliate and reinstate their affiliate program and swear never to do it again, bring in new management and work with the AGD, the GPWA and others.
Would affiliates give them that second chance, would these action constitute rehabilitation and even then would they ever be forgiven?
Same with CAP, what if they made a complete fresh start under new management and became as open and as transparent as what a lot would demand of them.
Can the current management ever be given that second chance if they did everything that was required of them short of changing management, what lengths would they have to go to?
I ask these questions not for answers, I have my own personal thoughts on this and would prefer that these specific subjects are not discussed in this blog to be honest. I am using them purely as examples.
They are more for reflection because everyone one of us has different levels of forgiveness and acceptable levels of rehabilitation and the possibility of second chances.
Each of us behaves and reacts depending how certain situation effects us directly, an affiliate that brought 500 players to Grand Prive would surely have a different level of forgiveness as to an affiliate that brought in just 1 affiliate.
Thats not to degenerate the affiliate that brings in just the one player, it is merely to highlight how different people would react to Grand Prives rehabilitation based on their own personal complaint.
I ask myself all the time what needs to be done in certain situations for me to forgive people and I know that sometimes I can be far too hard while at other times too soft.
But I am of the opinion that one has to realize that sometimes they can be wrong, I know I am on occasions, I have an opinion that on occasions the GPWA is too soft on certain points while too harsh on others.
I feel some members can be too harsh while some members think me too soft and visa versa, none of us are perfect thats for sure.
I suppose it is just a shame that forgiveness, rehabilitation and second chances are even subjects up for discussion in this industry but while ever the human element is involved then human frailties will continue to be with us all.
Its how we work with these frailties and their aftermath that is all important.
