Default Brand New Site, Need Advice

I have got my site up and running. I need some advice for anything I should change or add. I see everyone that has a pop up window that let's you add your email address then submit it. Can anyone tell me how you do that? I am new to site design, especially to Dreamweaver.

I also need help on promoting my site. I have already used the isubmit service from microsoft, This program tunes your site to make it optimized for search engines. Was very reasonably priced too! I am currently using Looksmart pay per click and google adwords ppc. Getting good hits from google, but nothing dramatic. By the way, the counter is not right, I have no had 2000 in 3 weeks. I wish tho!!

Any suggestions on what I can do to make my site better or more attractive. What search engines or programs I should join. I also am using Links Manager. Great service, they set up everything for me free.

I know my site is nothing compared to some of these sites I have seen on these forums, But I am learning new things all the time. Thanks in advance everyone. Looking foward to becomming a member when my site has been up for over 3 months. Justin.

NONE of us knew anything (or much, anyway) when we first put our sites up - they're always "works in progress".

Several of us use Constant Contact for our email lists and mailings, and it's a wonderful program. k: You can try it for free for the first 60 days, then if you like it, it starts at $20/month and goes up with the number of email addys it handles. If you don't like it, or can't afford it after the first 60 days, just download your email list and cancel - no prob.

Default Pay Per Click Search Engines

Is anyone using a particular PPC engine with good results. Overture is WAY OVERPRICED. THERE are nuts out there paying $26 per click. They are loving that!

I am looking for lower priced engines that have big results. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Several of us use Google Adwords - I just started myself (buying keywords I don't already rank well on) and have had good traffic from it. But Goog is difficult to work with when it comes to those - they'll deny keywords, stop your delivery, on and on. It's a job keeping up with them.

There are many other PPC's but it seems like most of them are fraught with fraud, so you have to be very careful with them. I don't use any of those myself, but if you have a question about specific ones, list them here and the other members will give you their feedback, I'm sure.

Stay away from Konoodle! Traffic is absolutely junk and total waste of money which you will burn through at an amazing rate.

    Dear jackpotcasinoguide,

    Remarks on your site:
In my opinion the site is very nice only a bit overcrowded with banners, they are also too close to each other. But I am not an affiliate nor a player, just an affiliate manager so it might work for you.
I would also place the casino of the month spot at a higher spot of your site, if it is the casino of the month it should be at the top.
You also mix personal things of your site with casino advertisements and for me it is a bit confusing, but I guess it is good for search engines.
What you might do to fix this is to separate the different issues with table borders or something like that.
As far as PPC, I used once FindWhat and wasn't too happy with the results to say the least so this is another not recommended to your list... Tough I know colleagues that use this service with success.
I have visited your other site www.blackjackguide.net and the colors are more appealing in my opinion and it looks cleaner and fresh.

And last but not least I would suggest you to join our affiliate program.

I wish you a lot of success.

    Hi Justin,
Yes, Alfredo has very good casinos to promote! k:

I use my computer set to a higher resolution (1024x780?), as many do, and both your sites are designed for 800x600 - which a lot of webmasters do. But I have a real "thing" for centering that, if that's how you're going to build.

Your Blackjack site *is* centered, but the Jackpots site isn't, so that's the first thing I'd fix. Also, you can put them on colored backgrounds that take up the whole space, and that usually looks better.

I agree with Alfredo on a lot of what he said. In addition, on the Jackpots site, I think your front page could use a little more organization to provide "focal points" for your visitors. There's a lot of info/print there that confuses my eye when I hit your page. I don't know what to look at first, or where things begin/end. A lot of your paragraphs could use smaller fonts in the paragraph under the subject line.

Also, your left colored border doesn't come all the way down to the bottom of the screen, where your right one does - it leaves it unbalanced for the bottom half of the page. Consistency is a critical factor in web design because subconciously it makes a huge impression on your visitors.

Material looks good - I think you're going to have to focus on your keyword emphasis a little more, but that takes a long time to develop. At GPWA's home page is a button for webmaster tools, and there's a very good keyword analyzer there that'll help you with that (free).

Good luck, and see you inside the private forums soon!! k:

Hang in there with the dreamweaver, I just started using it about 2 or three months ago and now I am very profficient with it

I read through the help files from beginning to end just to familiarize myself with the program. It is very flexible and the extra extensions you can get either for free from the macromedia site or purchase.

try this site for some real exciting extensions http://www.dmxzone.com/index.asp?TypeId=9

I purchased the Level4 Iframe suite and I love it!!!
Pretty cheap too!! Only $20 for something I use all the time

Yep Dreamweaver is an awesome program and well worth hanging in there with. I resisted changing to Dreamweaver from FP forever - when I finally did I wondered why I hadnt done it years before. It makes things so much easier.

There is an excellent free resource for learning Dreamweaver (and a lot of other programs) here:
