Higgins targets fourth title

John Higgins is the new 2/1 favourite with bet365 to win the World Snooker Championship after he overcame Ronnie O'Sullivan 13-10 to reach the semi-finals.

Scot Higgins, a three-time world champion, will take on Mark Williams in the last four, after the Welshman saw off Mark Allen 13-5 in their quarter-final.

"Playing Mark now will be a very tough game," Higgins said after his win. "He's beaten me twice before in semi-finals here and he's back to playing the way we all know he can play."

Rising star Judd Trump will take on China's Ding Junhui in the other semi-final, with Trump having thrashed Graeme Dott 13-5 in the last eight, while Ding upset Mark Selby 13-10 in another tense tussle.

Trump, now 7/2 to go all the way in the tournament, said after beating 2006 champion Dott: "I do feel a little bit invincible at the moment, it's a good feeling to have. I feel I can win the title."

Soccer

Guardiola plays down advantage

Barcelona head coach Pep Guardiola refuses to think that his side's Champions League semi-final tie with Real Madrid has already been decided.

Two Lionel Messi goals gave Barca a 2-0 victory in the Bernabeu, with the Catalan giants now 1/2 favourites with bet365 to go on and be crowned Kings of Europe again.

However, a cautious Guardiola commented: "We are one step away from the final, but we are not at Wembley yet.

"We respect Real Madrid a lot and we know they are capable of anything, so we won't underestimate them. If we start to believe we are already through, Madrid can punish us."

Barca are expected to face Manchester United in the final at Wembley, with Sir Alex Ferguson's men 1/100 to complete the job against Schalke, having won the first leg in Germany 2-0.

Golf

Donald not looking at number one

England's Luke Donald says his primary focus is on continuing to improve as a player, rather than the battle to become the number-one ranked golfer in the world.

Donald is the form player in the game at the moment and has finished in the top ten in his last five tournaments. He is 9/1 favourite to win the Zurich Classic in New Orleans this weekend, with defending champion Jason Bohn 90/1 to retain his title.

The Englishman commented: "It's certainly not a goal of mine.

"The goal for me is continually going through the steps to try to become a better player. When you do that, good things happen like they have this year.

"Number one is just another part of that parcel. I'll continue to do what I'm doing and hopefully that will happen."
