Alagoas police chief Lucimério Barros Campos informed Brazil's betting Parliamentary Inquiry Commission (CPI) that social media influencers are actively misleading and scamming gamblers.
Appearing before the CPI on Tuesday following "Operation Game Over," Campos detailed how illegal betting sites exploit influencers to attract bets through the online payment service Pix. Gamblers are using channels operated by these influencers to place wagers on the black market.

According to Lucimério, the influencer earns money from the betting house to attract more bettors and not by betting on the platform. He showed the CPI audios and videos from the investigation to illustrate the criminal schemes used.
In order to play, the gambler needs to download an app. That app provided the famous demo account for influencers. They received the real account, where they would post the link for people to click and bet, but they also received an account, another link where they could log in, simulate, record the screen showing how they made the big win. It was all a scam.
