Thanks for tip, a little strange from a touristic city to avoid some "pirates"
I found a list, seems ok

    http://topbudapest.org/faq/budapesttaxi

Maybe Hungarian members can confirm those info.

I was in Budapest for a few days before the Super Show in Prague this year and I would definitely recommend getting around on a bicycle. As well as being good exercise, if you want to do some sight seeing you'll definitely see more on a bike. You can hire them relatively cheaply around the city.

    Have fun everyone!

There is a train station right next to the conference hall (about 2-5 mins walk).. It's called Stadionok (SYMA is right next to the Puskas Ferenc Stadion - another thing that is well worth the look)..

If you follow the signs to the Puskas Stadion from within the train station you can't miss it.. And the trains are pretty cheap there..

WizzAir from Luton goes to Budapest if anyone is coming from UK. I believe they also run flights from up North as well. Also, Jet2 offering flights from Manchester, but make sure you carefully book as they try and sting you on everything.

Not even sure Ryanair fly to Budapest. Never a good choice if you want to get there on time.

We can recommend City Taxi. They were like 75% cheaper than the Taxis we grabbed from the street, however it didn't matter that much. We always only paid what we thought was a fine price for the trip. Had a few discussions but never had to overpay too much, really.

And City Taxi drivers were top notch all the way, not one uncomfortable incident whatsoever!

I don't know which company it was when we were there (was a cab picked off the street), but the taxi driver went nuts at us because we asked for a receipt for a short ride.. And when I say nuts, he was screaming at us..

    It was kinda scary actually..

It was his second choice. Apparently midget mud wrestling is frowned upon in Budapest.

Brean, don't let me take credit for your ideas.

I reckon you'd look good on skates, you can transfer that mincey walk you have into some sweet skate moves.
