California lawmaker supportive of online poker found guilty on eight felony counts
California State Senator Rod Wright, a long-time supporter of the state's intrastate online poker initiatives, has been found guilty of eight felony counts. The charges were levied as it appeared that Wright does not actually live at his stated permanent address in Inglewood, which gave him a favorable district to run for his seat. Instead, the charges stated, that the home was his step-mother's residence and he lived in a much nicer neighborhood in Baldwin Hills.
It's unclear whether Wright will hold on to his seat, but Buzzy things it seems likely that he will be resigning in the not-too-distant future. He will be sentenced on March 12 and could spend up to eight years in prison.
