As for the valuation it seems fair enough, they have a huge base of existing traffic and brand awareness and aren't solely reliant on google like a lot of affiliates sites.
I think the majority of their traffic is branded rather than search engine centric, which is better since they don't need to do much SEO. It takes care of itself.

And for the 30+ staff members or so they had on board.

Interesting point - on that metric those numbers are actually pretty poor ...
Those numbers of 2.55m profit on 25,000 depositors (and base) = slightly more than 100 euro per player.
That's awful a lot of low value in that customer supply chain. Freebie hunters ?

I think the buffet style assortment probably works pretty good when you consider all the habitual self-excluders.

This is a good point because it does seems a bit low. But after all the admin fees and everything else they are probably receiving around 25% of the player value. So 4 x 129.60 = 516.4 that seems about right. But it doesn't really say they have 25,000 players. So who knows.

What do you mean? They dominate the SERPs for all the review keywords, plus a bunch of others I am sure. Having brand recognition and word of mouth is just a bonus, which helps their SEO. Or is that what you meant?

That's what I mean. When you have brand recognition the SEO takes care of itself. That's why if I have the cash I'd try to acquire brands rather than just high ranking sites.

It kinda goes hand in hand IMO. Having high rankings strengthens your brand's recognition. There are companies that will do break even PPC campaigns for this alone.
