Default Chris Christie running for U.S. president

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (Republican) has officially announced his candidacy for the U.S. presidency. Unlike many of his GOP counterparts, Christie has a history of supporting online gambling efforts at the state level, as his advocacy was vital for New Jersey passing legislation to regulate online gambling.

Christie is a staunch advocate of states' rights. Christie also has a history of being somewhat of a flip-flopper (at least that's Buzzy's opinion).

So what do we think -- forgetting about the rest of his politics, would Christie becoming president be a net positive for the online gambling community?

I don't think so. Gambling would be the last thing on his mind if he were to become president.

As an advocate of states' rights, wouldn't he be closer to letting each state decide for themselves?

Yes, but that's better than the Sheldon Adelson-backed GOP alternative -- wanting to ban it at the federal level.

Maybe so for online gambling but it's probably a moot point. Christie has a large amount of protesters as we speak in NJ against him for the way he handled hurricane Sandy and other things. I don't think he'll get far.

I'd be surprised if he gets in the top 10 to make the fox debates. He's near or at #10 now.

Like you said, he's a flip flopper so he may support online gambling now but what's stopping him from flopping his stance along the way to fit his agenda?

I don't think he has a serious chance of being the Republican candidate. Bush or Rubio.

I don't think any president candidate is having online gambling on top at his or her agenda.

I think that Hilary Clinton has the best chance of winning so far. I don't believe that Chris Christie has any hope of becoming the next U.S. president.

As has been said - Online gambling is not a key platform - so as a republican politician Christie's position is for sale to the highest bidder.
Christie would do whatever the power brokers behind the Republicans wanted him to do. ( *cough - Sheldon Adelson* )

Not that Christie has ANY chance of winning the Republican nomination ...
And if he did - Hillary Clinton would easy win the election.

The demographics have changed in America - the old-style GOP electoral base is not enough to win back power - ever.
If the Republicans want to win the next election then the candidate needs to NOT be a Old White Male ...

And it can't be a lightweight like Sarah Palin who gets promoted to a level of incompetence ... she was/is a political joke.
The GOP just does not have anyone with political experience outside the White Anglo-Saxon Male demographic ...

I don't see that the GOP has a viable candidate ... for this election or even the next one ...

From the way things currently look, Donald Trump has a good chance with the GOP but like Sheldon, he has or had interest in brick and mortar casinos, which you can guess where he'll stand about online gambling...

Christie has no chance. It will be Bush or Rubio. I think (and hope) they can definitely beat Clinton. 4 or even 8 more year Democrats wouldn't be good for the US. Europeanization is not a good thing.

Anyway, for online gambling it doesn't matter.

Rubio. About the same age as Obama when he was elected first time.
