Default Clarion to purchase iGaming Business

Although the terms of the deal are yet to be confirmed, Clarion has said that combining iGaming Business with is own gaming portfolio will "further the vision of both companies to provide a comprehensive events and information platform for the sector".

Hopefully not the good news is we are all moving across with the business so everyone has their jobs. I think it presents an awesome opportunity for us to move to the next level and invest back in the business. Next step in the journey has begun!!

Has Clarion been making many acquisitions this past year?

    According to the wiki
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clarion_Events
The expected sales price was reported to be $327 million by The Sunday Times. In January 2015 it was acquired by Providence Equity Partners for £200 million. In February 2015, there were protests organized against Clarion's involvement with various military trade shows.
Some of the investments of Providence were interesting

(Hulu, AutoTrade, T-Mobile, Warner music...many more) I also found this statement interesting
In March 2013, Providence and the National Football League formed a global partnership to invest primarily in sports and entertainment related media assets.

Yea Providence is a gigantic Private Equity House and seems to have a lot of $$$$$ - And as for Clarion, people don't realise how big they are.... their portfolio is crazy, defence, gaming, oil and gas and then.... the biggest baby show in the UK as well as wedding shows, travel shows etc.... I know its controversial but always wanted to go to the defence show, they bring a war ship up the thames and park it outside Excel!!???!!!

The only bad thing that could come out of this IMO is if Clarion decided to combine ICE and LAC into one conference.

I say that because ICE is HUGE compared to LAC, and I think it would take away the value for exhibitors at LAC if that happened, not to mention aff mgrs walking the floor trying to speak with people.

Excel is also so far away from everything.

I'm interested to see if there is any cool stuff from ICE as a conference that will make it's way into LAC. I haven't been to ICE since it was in Earl's Court but am planning to go this time around to see what's changed.

I would like to know what the merger does for us as affiliate programs in general does it give us greater ability to get new business ? Does it mean shows just get bigger and more elaborate ? is it good for us ?

Bigger and more elaborate may or may not be a good thing.

Either bigger or more elaborate could easily mean higher prices for exhibitors.

Bigger certainly means it may become more difficult to actually reach the numbers you look for for the ROI, as you would have possibly hundreds more exhibitors to compete against reaching the same number of visitors. (bigger can also translate into more visitors, but if the percentage of increase in visitors are also exhibitors, then less visitors per exhibitor)

Like others have said, "time will tell"

    Miles,

Please let us know if they raise the prices and the explanation about how the higher fees will mean things will be better for the exibitors.
