Default Coronavirus outbreak affecting industry conferences and tradeshows

The world-wide coronavirus outbreak is causing postponements throughout the gaming industry.

Last week, G2E Asia, originally set for 19-21 May, was moved to 28-30 July at the Venetian Macao:

Yesterday came news that both CasinoBeats Malta and the Betting on Sports in America shows were also being pushed back.

CasinoBeats Malta at the Intercontinental Hotel in Malta, originally scheduled for 24-27 March, will now be on 22-24 June and Betting on Sports America at the Meadowlands Exposition Center in Secaucus, New Jersey, has been moved from late April to 1-3 December:

Meanwhile, Clarion Gaming posted the following announcement regarding its upcoming conferences, ICE North America in New Orleans (13-14 May) and ICE Asia in Manila (8-9 June):

Following the global outbreak of COVID-19, Clarion Events is continuing to monitor the latest public health and government advice one each of our markets around the world and acting in accordance with government and public health advice and World Health Organisation (“WHO”) guidelines. We support the stance taken by the Global Association for the Exhibition Industry, UFI and remain committed to delivering our events in a safe environment.

Unless otherwise advised, our events are taking place as scheduled.

I am not surprised at all. The whole world is a mess now and noone is interested in any conferences.

EURO 2020 and Olympics are about to be stopped too.

COVID19 is more than a disaster.

Hopefully all will be solved in the upcoming 5-6 months.

Luckily summer is coming in the Northern Hemisphere as heat, humidity and sun light are natural enemies to the virus. Hopefully this goes past within the next couple of months.

Not industry conference related, but a slew of U.S. casino properties are announcing temporary closings.

Are all the Caesars properties still opened in Las Vegas? I guess it is time for them to close down too very soon.

As of right now, Caesars, Station Casinos, Sands properties are remaining open. The Venetian tweeted out:

Due to recent restrictions issued by the Nevada Gaming Control Board, all play in the poker room will have a maximum of three players per table.

It'll get worst in the short term, predictions forecast 2-3 months at least until the graph will decline... and the real question is what will happened with the economy after all this mess

Who cares about conferences now ????

The peek of the virus has not still come.

Look what is happening in USA, FRAnce and UK.

The whole world will not be ever be the same again. We have to stay focused on the health and self discipline of our fellows, relatives and people we love.

Social isolation is the best way to reduce the number of ill people and the spread of disease.

It will get much worse until it gets better, as they say. We can forget about all common activities for 3, 4 months at least...let's just hope the damage won't be too dramatic, although at the moment it looks like it will...social isolating since a while now, it's a must.

It'll slow the infections big time that's for sure because it'll not live too long on surfaces and on the air but it'll not destroy it..

Apparently the temp needs to be 40C (104F) or above.

If it had hit here in AU at the midst of our scorching summer, the spread would certainly be far, far less. But, as we're now in autumn (fall), it's going to get far worse out here, before, it starts to turn and improve.

Aside from coronavirus, we're facing a double whammy, where the seasonal-flu-virus will be on our doorstep too.

Table games like roulette and blackjack are way worse. People are much closer to each other.
And everyone passing the chips around all the time and touching it. (also for poker).
