    Lived in several different countries myself and currently in The Philippines as I met my wife and settled here.

    Where you live really depends on what comfort level you are looking for and how adventurous you are. If you are a person who does not like change or will complain or get frustrated with bureaucracy or customer service offered then I suggest staying put and not moving. If you are open to new challenges a place to live then look at doing it.

    Some places I have lived and my thoughts;
    1) Curacao (couple of years) - great living the island life and some nightlife and things to do but for me I was ready to move after a couple of years as felt too small. Customer service is sub standard.
    2) Costa Rica (about 4-5 years) - great memories of this place and the outdoors made it better. San Jose offered a great climate but near the end it started to get costly as prices increased.
    3) Malta (about six months) - great little island in the mecca of the gaming world. Enjoyed living here and the community feel and being still in Europe made it easier for me to travel home more frequently.
    4) Panama (about 5 years) - great country to live and a lot of advantages of being an expat and a stones throw away from both the Caribbean and Pacific Ocean. Customer service is sub standard so can be a frustration.
    5) The Philippines (going on two years) - came here after a year traveling the world and met my wife here through a mutual friend I have known for years. Like the lifestyle here and enjoying my family but Manila is a little congested and a bit boring, and cost of living can be cheap.

    Hope this helps.

    It's cheaper to live in Madrid and you get a much better standard of living, crime rate is through the roof there now and it's become insanely exspensive, it's now one of the hardest places to open a bank account with all the hoops and red tape galore.

    How's tax in Spain?

    Over-taxed countries I would delete first from my list. If I see the insane amounts some colleagues are paying....

    When I was 21 I went to Canada (Vancouver) for Expo and fell in love with the place and it has been to only time that I would have been happy to leave there and then for another country.

    Nowadays I would be quite happy to move to Portugal / Spain for weather and the golfing of course.

    I am living in Malta and before in London. Weather wise it is 100% time better, except summer too hot.
    Lifestyle is more relaxed but miss sometimes the London shows, restaurants, parks... big city buzz..
