The Canadian Radio-Television and Telecommunications Commission issued a statement last week saying it considers a bill that would allow Quebec government to block online gambling websites that are in direct competition with Loto Quebec a "violation of federal law."
In July, the Public Interest Advocacy Centre filed a similar argument against the law, which is scheduled to take effect in 2018.

The CRTC notice comes as the Canadian Wireless Telecommunications Association (CWTA) takes the Quebec government to court on the issue. The CWTA, which includes companies such as Videotron, Rogers and CJAD's parent company Bell, filed a motion in Superior Court last month to have the law struck down as unconstitutional.
