Default Curacao to tighten supervision of online casinos

The Curaçao government will tighten the supervision of online casinos operating from the island as the already existing Gaming Control Board, which now oversees the physical casinos only, will also supervise the online gambling sector.

    From Curaçao Chronicle:

Thanks to a shadowy trade in sub-licenses, the web casinos have been able to operate unhindered in recent years. Many operators hide behind a web of companies located in exotic locations and have their activities run in Curaçao by a local trust office.

According to conservative estimates, billions are going on in the sector. It is suspected that there is a direct link with serious international crime such as money laundering, trafficking in human beings and arms and financing of terrorism. Reason why, in particular, Ronald van Raak, member of the Second Chamber of the Dutch Parliament, has been worried for years that the sector has not been blocked.

The Dutch Gaming Authority also worried about the many online casinos that are illegally targeting the Dutch market from Willemstad.

I dare say that's of a greater concern, least more than they've alluded to.

According to the news, the online gambling would be licenced and regulated the same way as offline gambling?

If so, it is normal process of regulation development. Most of the countries have thier special framework for online gambling.
