According to conservative estimates, billions are going on in the sector. It is suspected that there is a direct link with serious international crime such as money laundering, trafficking in human beings and arms and financing of terrorism. Reason why, in particular, Ronald van Raak, member of the Second Chamber of the Dutch Parliament, has been worried for years that the sector has not been blocked.
The Dutch Gaming Authority also worried about the many online casinos that are illegally targeting the Dutch market from Willemstad.
