Lightbulb DASH - Privacy Alt Coin

Do you guys like this Alt coin? Digital anonymous cash... seems pretty good to me! It has been doing really well on the market too! Would online gaming be able to utilize this altcoin?

It is one of the alts heavily promoted and supported by Ver.

I do not like DASH. Privacy for cryptos is nothing special and soon it will be standard even for bitcoin and then those coins will die.

It is POS/POW hybrid coin, that went up like crazy after they came with masternodes and it caused the masternode madness, where other MN coins followed the surge.

Apart of that it does not offer anything. Real world transactions are zero. Proximity to bitcoin code is close. Therefore IMO overpriced.

How will BTC become anonymous? Would they not have to fork again to do that?

Any change of bitcoin code is done through forks. So yes, bitcoin will have to fork if there will be such on chain change. [But it has to be yet determined whether such a change is needed, because there is tradeoff between anonymity and scalability.]

But there can be other ways how to make bitcoin more anonymous. Like built-in tumblers into wallets. There are new tumbling algos like tumblebit, but their implementation was waiting for Segwit. Now the way for the changes is open.

Also ETH will enable zk-snarks probably soon.

I have a handful of DASH tokens.
Simply purchased as a diversification from BTC when BTC and BCH were having their clan wars.

It's doubled in price, but I have no particular use for it or it anonymity functions.
I will hold while it stays as the Korean "coin of the month".

DASH seems to do more transactions than BCH with half the number of supply.
So perhaps DASH should be a higher price than BCH ?

First of all: discussions about altcoins are full of emotions and I did not want to start it on this forum. But because we are all crazy gamblers it had to happen.

For me DASH is maybe slightly worse than BCH, but not because of transactions. The real world transactions are zero and BCH has better potential because has larger community and is more pushed (some people buy at least the coffee with BCH and LTC and it is also used for buying miners from bitmain). Long term I do not want to own any one of them unless something happens. ETH has more transactions than all currencies and is better? The purpose of most of the transactions are that they exist but they are not real world. They do not reflect real demand. They are for free almost.

I do not think there will be much hedge if bitcoin blows up. Cryptos will then survive, but in much longer term and probably not in a form of blockchain. But Bitcoin will not blow up. If something bad happens, fork of code (without second branch probably), will be used. Bitcoin has now too much money invested.

Long term the coins that aspire only to be a payment method will fail. There is no alternative where bitcoin fails and bitcoin spin-offs survive. It is of course my crystal ball opinion.

Like I also play very slightly some "hedges", but they are the furthest coins from bitcoin. And I am not really liking them at all.

Doesn't DASH use tumblers for anonymization? Isn't ZCASH superior for anonymous transactions?

ZCASH uses zksnarks. It is probably the superior anonymization but I am no expert to see the difference. ETH will use it as well.

This makes sense. I think that the best long term investment is BTC though. For real world use, BCH/DASH seem to be ideal right now...

Very cool. I'd love to see that. I have not used dash before, but I did download the Monero wallet after seeing a McAfee presentation. I sent some Monero back and forth. What surprised me was the cost and confusion during the process. It cost about $7 to send $50 (approx. at the time I sent them). I realized that the cost and convenience are still off quite a bit to make it viable for everyday use.

I'd love to see BTC wallets have a built-in tumbler. It's amazing that BTC can make a few adjustments to solve a lot of issues. Too bad the governance is suffering. Maybe they will get it together sometime. Until then we'll get hard forks.
