Default Deckmedia account hacked changed Bitcoin Payment address

Deck Affiliates made payment to a bitcoin account that wasn't mine and then told me it's my fault.

I don't use bitcoin and my payment settings were set to "wire"

They say someone hacked in to my account and my password is to blame

This is what went down according to them...

Someone hacked into my account and changed my payment settings to bitcoin (added bitcoin address), extracted my money, then changed settings back to wire, they would've had to monitor my account for several months, since it took that long to reach minimum $500 payout amount.

Nobody there noticed a strange login ip address changing my payment settings? and decided to notify me?

I tracked down the bitcoin account number that was added to my account and the money was transferred to another bitcoin account that has received $270 000 in total

They have also mentioned that a rogue affiliate program has our passwords and are using them to login to our accounts at other places if we use the same passwords at multiple sites

I received the below email from them on the 17th June:

    Important Security Update

We have heard reports of affiliate accounts being hacked (at several affiliate programs) and payment details changed to a Bitcoin address.

We now have 'Two Factor Login' available at Deckmedia. Once activated, a code will be sent to your email address to complete each log in.

If you would like to activate 'Two Factor Login' on your affiliate account please email affiliates@deckmedia.com with your username and we will activate this for you right away. Please be sure to email us from the email address linked to your affiliate account.

We strongly advise that you do not use the same password on Deckmedia as you use on other affiliate programs. The stronger the password the safer your account.

Please be sure to check your payment settings each month to ensure that the details are correct. We generally generate invoices on the 2nd of each month.

    Settings > Payment Settings

    Thanks for understanding.

Partly you if you have 2fa and you ignore it.
Partly Deckmedia, because they do not have some way of mandatory 2fa in action by bitcoin payouts.

They have soft 2fa in a way, even when it is not ideal.
1st you can not change payouts to bitcoin, because there is only bitcoin
2nd you must submit the address until eom, then the address is fixed for 2 weeks until they pay you out. So even if your account is hacked, you have time to recognise it and stop the payment. Indeed would be better if they were sending emails with each edit of bitcoin address or system like that.

They should have some kind of double-check when changing payment settings.

At the minimum, you should get an email notification. Or better, you should confirm by email that you want to change the payment settings.

This happened to me as well about 5 years ago, but it was William Hill and the payment went to a Moneybookers address. Login was from Vietnam. No security checks in place at WH, 200$ or so lost.

I don't see the option to activate a 2FA feature when I go to Settings > Payment Settings

While I agree that it would be safer that Deckmedia and all other affiliate programs would put in place a 2 factor system before any banking or other profile changes could happen, this is not strictly related to Deckmedia, nor is this a Deckmedia scam as the OP titles suggested.

This is a scam perpetrated by a hacker/scammer that gained access to an affiliate account and password.

It seems they might fix it soon.

In a continued effort to improve our partners’ experience, we are excited to announce that we will be updating our affiliate site across all brands globally.

The launch will occur in phases, the 1st one will happen on July 24th for our Bodog88 partners.

Here are a couple of exciting changes to look forward to:

    New and improved affiliate site

*Login information will be provided when the site is launched.

    Updated commissions process

    • You will now have more control over your payments.
    • Monthly commissions will be sent to a new cashier feature which will allow you to decide when to withdraw your funds.
    • The new cashier feature will allow for continued Bitcoin payments.

The new site and cashier will have different login details. Login details for the new site will remain the same; however, we will send you an email with details on how to set up the login information for the cashier.

More improvements to the program are underway, which we will inform you about as they transpire. In the meantime, we hope you enjoy our new offering, which promises an improved, more streamlined affiliate experience.

For more information, don’t hesitate to reach out to us by replying directly to this email or via skype: bestpartners.en

Hope you didn't lose too much money. Wondering if this is happening at other programs.

    Hi,

One thing I do is on the last day of each month I make sure I have updated my address to a new one.
Then I check again after one week to see that the address is correct and how much I should expect.
It is just something I have on my calendar each month.

This is also what I do, econfox, but it just seems that with even all of the latest security measures that are in place and with the technology that we have, these disgusting hackers and scammers will always somehow find a way to get past them.

The same happened to me at Vista Gaming Affiliates. Someone got into my account and changed payment method to Bitcoin.
