According to The Straits Times, close to 300 people were arrested for illegal gambling in Singapore last year, with about 50 charged under the Remote Gambling Act. The police carry out more than 100 raids against illegal gambling every year. Online betting accounts for about 90 per cent of those arrested for illegal football gambling and more than one-third of those arrested for illegal lotteries.
