Yes, in general any editor can edit in any subcategories of categories for which they are an editor. Additionally, there are a large number of senior editors (I believe in the hundreds) who have broad editing authority across the entire directory.

However, the fact that there are editors who have authority to edit in a category does not mean that you can count on new site submissions to the category being reviewed in any particular timeframe. Editors are volunteers and they edit when and where they wish to edit. If anyone is interested in becoming an editor we could use more help from folks that understand the online gaming industry. I would be very happy to discuss being an editor with anyone who is interested. Last year at the CBG weekend I actually gave a talk about being an editor, and I know at least one new editor who signed up and was accepted as an editor after that. Just send me a pm if you might be interested and would like to find out more about how the process works.

Aside that thought Greek, I am right to say - this is not fraud Aussie Dave - are'nt I? You know better than I.

I'm saying link building is not so bad Aussie D.

If you have something on Webz aside he's a Bristol City fan and a webmaster accumulating as many links for his sites as possible, one way or the other, then I'm all ears.

If you want to push this further then I support your right to do so, and I'll not consider you a bad guy if you do, but Webzcas ain't so bad a boy either I'm afraid.

Nows a good time to do just that - more sites added in the last 24 hrs than in the last year. hahaha!

Maybe a rephrase? I not really passionate about the DMOZ issues. All I really know is DMOZ supports fraud or DMOZ has fraudsters as editors. Or maybe DMOZ the bogus link building scam.

Not pointing this at anyone just making an observation. BTW the site I submitted to DMOZ was very good but i assume was rejected been waiting for six months. A site about cyber bullies towards teenagers. Very informative for non-profit, content rich, and 40 pages long.

Something I have learned over the years made me shy away from this biz is the fraud. I could work, work, and work but it will never pay off unless i nook the system. I am much better now that I have moved on. I actually get paid regularly and fairly. Just awesome!!

My brief input. Dmoz is corrupt to the core and ALL the way to the top. To the VERY top.

I don't want any of my sites listed in Dmoz. I want no part of their scum.

Actually the category editor of xxxhttp://www.dmoz.org/Games/Gambling/ (please dmoz editors correct me if I'm wrong) can review and add sites to any sub category under his or her category.

Taking a look at the site it's "a significant resource", I'm surprise this site is not listed. It certainly kicks butt and is in my non judgemental opinion far better than the majority of sites listed in the gambling categories.

Thanks AussieDave for the nice comments about my site. It costed a lot of time and energy to put it together but I frankly do not know if my application has been received properly and you are not allowed to do the request again.

If you count the banners you will not find many or just a few small ones.

I have returning visitors each day which is encouraging to carry on.

Call me stupid but what I don't understand is that if you are this passionate about it why not apply to be an editor or make a complaint about an editor that is bad - It seems if the people that feel the system is corrupt applied the same passion you have in this thread to being an editor it would be clean within a month.....You would also be able to then comment with facts, knowledge and experience rather than conspiracy theories and assumptions.......Wouldn't that make more sense?

I don't really know what the issue is - if DMOZ is fraudulent etc, then it's best ignored and your energies spent on positive things.

I am in no way defeding DMOZ or their editors (I don't know enough about it all) but if people are not happy, apply to fix the solution or just drop it - negative energy is a waste of time.

I don't mean to offend anyone at all - just think it's best to focus on what makes you money personally.

Yes but if an alliance has the potential to affect your business and influence your income, would you not stand up and say something? Or would you just accept it and do nothing!

I'm all for capitalism and for people increasing their wealth. But not for those who game the system at the expense of others. In-turn use their positions of trust to manipulate and do whatever it takes to keep the competition out of the game.

Think of it like a crooked game of poker.
Everyone other than yourself is in collusion with each other, if that's not bad enough, they are using a stacked deck as a fail safe.

In that scenario no matter how good a poker player you are, your going to lose your shirt!

Transpose that analogy over to the Link Wheel diagram and also the facts revealed in this thread. Gambling webmasters who are not members of the exclusive monopoly - namely the dmoz gambling alliance are being shut out and its been this status quo for ages.

Michael has openly stated and IMHO attempted to justify adding a 3'rd dmoz listing for the casinomeister.com/forum/webmasters-corner/, even though the FORUM itself already held a listing in category Chats and Forums; and the root domain is listed in Guides.

NB - It should also be noted, webzcas and Michael failed to mention CasinoMeister.com was dropped from dmoz.
Now why do you think it's now back and listed
. Check out the WayBack Machine archives they don't lie!

Webzcas, like Michael uses a similar quasi justification to list his new site within weeks of purchase. Even though it has 17 affiliate banners and links on the home page.

    Whilst Michael tells belgamo:
    https://www.gpwa.org/forum/dmoz-frau...tml#post633225

The site was probably rejected because it had too many affiliate banners - note not as many as xxxhttp://www.casinos-online.co.uk/ (webzcas site) but that gets approved by the editor himself, webzcas.

Another GPWA member (GCG) steps up:
    https://www.gpwa.org/forum/dmoz-frau...tml#post633260

States his site was submitted months ago. Viewing this site it's clearly a valuable resource and contains quality guides fitting the category submission and by what Michael tells us is the guidelines of a good site for dmoz. Still he waits.

I'm sure if other gambling webmasters didn't have the fear of reprisals or being flamed in this thread for standing up, they too would share their experiences wit the dmoz gambling cats.

Dmoz editors gaming the system is the power plant for this scheme to work.

A Link Wheel can be used any many forms. However the strategy the alliance uses combined with the monopoly they hold in the dmoz gambling categories, ensures their prominence in Google. Because Google uses dmoz as a secondary supplimment to its Searches.

Anyway...Believe it or don't believe that's your call.

But if anyone has any suspicions on what's been said and stated in this thread, do yourself a favour, research the sites that link to and from the dmoz categories. Check out the links in footers too - you might be surprised at what you find!

    Cheers

    Dave

I said I was out of this thread and I am.

But my brief return to it is to provide you all with a link to an article I have written up this afternoon.

Not only does it napalm the conspiracies of our near 50 year old, 26 years self employed keyboard warrior, but it means I have done something constructive with my time and added some more ass kicking content to my site

Under the circumstances and taking note casinosandgames.com has home pages links on casinomeister.com and various other sites directly connected to the dmoz alliance - not with standing the fact you too hold a dmoz listing (even if it was added well before webzcas was an editor)...I don't think your in any position to be requesting private information.

Dave you need to become an editor if you want to rant so much about it. You don't have all your facts straight and as Michael has pointed out not everything is open for the public.

I really don't care about this thread any longer, but wanted to post because of your last comments. Unless you know everything (which you don't) you shouldn't make assumptions.

I had been contacted the other day via email from one of my sites telling me I needed to shut up or else. That day I posted that I too was stepping out of the thread for a bit ... but you know what, these bozos don't scare me one bit! They think they are beyond reproach / untouchable, but their brash, in your face, bigger than life persona's shall one day be their downfall.

... you just couldn't pass up another opportunity to seed another link to your new site. Unfortunately, all you've done is regurgitate the same "we're beyond reproach" that editors have spewed for years - not really ass kicking content. Sorry.

She actually has 3-4 sites listed in the dmoz gambling categories. Course that doesn't mean anything is up - heck the odds of that happening randomly without any alliance in place are pretty good ... aren't they?

Like AussieDave said, as with most things in this industry a good deal of affiliates just dont worry about most things that dont directly affect them. If you are one of those lurking and reading, but are afraid to post due to fear of repercussions - I know I understand.

kaus, if you have something to say, say it to me here in public.

Please don't send me any more PM's. I haven't opened that one, I'm about to delete it.

Unless what you've got to say you don't want to say in public. In that case it shouldn't be said!
