Does taking out Google Ads help with SEO in any way?
I'm not talking about the actual ads here, but more about Google's perception of the website. If a relatively new site pays for an advertising campaign through google, does this impact on them trusting the site and improving the rating of it?
I will be writing a lot of content for the site in the long term, and using this to attract visitors but wondered if this would be a way to get on the first step of the ladder so to speak?
No.
No, it is not going to influence your websites trust with Google in anyway, otherwise those with deep pockets could throw a load of money at it in order to influence the results with not so reputable sites.
It's just a waiting game with Google, continue to add quality content at least weekly and try and get some relevant links during this time, your unlikely to get any considerable traffic even if you do the above right for 8-12 months at least.

You can use it to your advantage to improve conversion. As for SEO, it doesn't work.
I am more of the opinion that Google wants to monetize everything it can, hence why some results now have 5 ads before organic results.
I think that if you have the money, as well as are in a market that can openly advertise gambling, that you should do a few small spending campaigns.
I think the pros include:
1) Insurance policy WRT Google liking your site, I mean hey, you are a paying customer!
2) You get some traffic to your site earlier on, even if it simply breaks even, that has other benefits.
3) If you are using Google Analytics, the big G will more quickly start to see how the users interact with your site. Positive results here all feedback into the search algos and perhaps there is value in getting this started sooner rather than later.
I would do it if I could, but most of our sites are not advertiseable because of market issues.
At one of the conferences, I heard as speaker say that for an absolutely new site, Google Ads can reduce its time in the "sandbox", provided that you'll get a certain amount of paid traffic.
But I disagree with that.
Yes they will help, as will any kind of genuine traffic.

I have seen in low competition niche, where running Google ads had small impact on rankings. The site had zero links, it was fairly new site (less than 6 months old) and about 15 pages of good SEO content.
While running the ads the rankings started to climb and also the organic traffic went up a bit.
My take for this:
PPC doesn't give you major boost, but you can definitely use the traffic to test the site (CRO) and see what kind of keywords convert

No, it does not help SEO. Using Google Ads or Running an Ads in Google it's just boosting your website into SERP.
Content is king, just write lots of good content, it will be loved by Google/Users, don't worry too much about anything else.
Get a few decent backlinks from popular websites and then focus on content, if it is good, your visitors will be sharing your content themselves, that's what you want.

It definitely does not help out for SEO!!!
It can help you getting some brand advertising, that will lead to people will find you and later search for you brand and come back to your page.
That will lead to that google will trust you page more. And rank you higher for keywords, so no it do not help you rank on keywords like everyone is saying here.
But it can help you get more trust and in the end it can help you with seo as you will get higher trust for your page.
