I am wondering if testimonial backlinks from casino affiliate websites could bring real SEO value to your website?
I decided to make an experiment and disavowed all testimonial links a few days ago and it seems nothing changed.
But my website is very small and I don't have tons of such links, so the results can be not very accurate.
Please share your thoughts on it. Maybe someone already made such an experiment?
I think the views on this will very much depend on what exactly you mean by ‘testimonial’ links and where they are published.

If your testimonial is on their homepage, among some 3, 5 others, then it is a good link, in my opinion. The rest with hundreds on one page, that you often see, are pointless and even toxic.

This is a really interesting question.
We recently encountered for our project.
We have been using these links for years. Although we know that some modern trends are already moving away from testimonial links.
In our case, when the resource is already quite well developed and has a stable traffic and ranked in the top of Google, the decrease of these links has not affected negatively.
But again, the project is already ranked for some queries in the top of Google.
At the beginning of the project, we expanded brand recognition in this way. Not only on the main page (as written above).
Also, the advantage of this method is to maintain a balanced link profile (links do-follow/no-follow).
This in turn is an important indicator for Google, and meets their requirements.
Ie, the project does not fall under the filters.

It would be quite difficult to say exactly what value a testimonial link like that may hold. There could be a lot of variables to consider, like gm2891 stated a above. Is it on the home page? Are there a lot of other links besides your link, etc.
Nevertheless, getting a testimonial link usually requires minimum effort, it is free and quick, so why not get one?
Even if it won't bring much value (although there is a chance it might) - it will definitely not hurt your rankings.
I think they add some value to your site, depending on the site value like any other site, but still need to be very carful and check each site because some sites are simply have no value and like any other link, it can even do some harm to you site, in these cases I would recommend to simply do not put a link with the testimonial and just use text mentioning of your site
The more diverse the links, the better. Always use the maximum number of link types to make it look natural
I agree. The more links, particularly on stronger sites, are beneficial. More diverse sites and links certainly will help.
Every link coming from a website related to your niche is useful. I like to check the spam score for a website before going for a testimonial or whatever other source of backlink.
I think that the backlinks in the reviews has value and some value they do add to the site. Regarding casino sites then there in the promotion of all methods are good.
